Do a Google search on special days in February and there is a long list.
Two to note is it is Friendship month and Random Acts of Kindness Week-third week. During this COVID pandemic period, and personal mental health being noted as low, there is opportunity to make February a wonderful month by reaching out to family, friends, or total strangers in a gesture of kindness and friendship. Don’t forget Valentine’s day-14th to remember your special someone. You might just find that your special acts do your heart and spirit a world of good and boost your mental health.

Clean Eating Recipe

Thai Green Beans – 4 cups of mixed beans. 2 Tbsp. Butter. 1″ piece fresh ginger. 1 clove garlic. 1 Tbsp. sesame tahini. 1/2 Tbsp honey. 1 Tbsp. olive oil. 1/2 Tsp. toasted sesame oil. Pinch cayenne pepper. Toasted sesame seeds. Heat a large skillet over medium heat, toss beans in olive oil until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Set aside in a bowl. Add butter and garlic to skillet on medium heat for one minute and then reduce to low and add cayenne, tahini, sesame oil, honey and ginger. Combine with beans. Top with sesame seeds before serving. Enjoy!

Business Spotlight

An important part of the community, Lions Housing Centres was established 55 years ago, and boasts over 540 rental suites in two of their properties. Lions Place, at 610 Portage Avenue and Lions Manor located at 320 Sherbrook with both offering independent living. Lions Place is their largest building which encompasses full amenities for the 280-plus residents. In there you’ll find a community hall, pool tables, shuffle boards, fitness centre, newly renovated greenhouse, hair salon, large library, mini-mart, and restaurant.
