With a deep tissue massage or a body scrub you will look and feel your best this winter.

Keys to Lifelong Change

A nutritious diet, exercise and stress management are part of developing a healthy relationship with yourself. It did not take you one day to become overweight and out of shape, so you can’t expect to change overnight! Many of us live as “subconscious beings” reverting to unhealthy habits such as binge TV watching, processed foods and drinking alcohol daily. To truly change your health, you need to set slow, manageable goals. The choices you make on a daily basis determine the long term outcome. Consult a Holistic Health Practitioner to find out how you can achieve lifelong change by making small changes today.

Energy & Information are the Key to Health

While traditional healthcare has primarily focused on physiology, we now realize that energy and information control biology. Frontier science proves that there is a regulating field of energy and information that operates at the subcellular level in the physical body. At NES Health, they call this the Human Body-Field (HBF) and have researched it for over 30 years. They have discovered that the root causes of physical problems are distortions and blockages in the body-field. A Bio-Energetic Assessment uses a state of the art computer to read the body-field. Decisions regarding treatment can be made from the information gathered.

10 Things that Happen When You Quit Smoking

According to, after only 8 hours of your last cigarette, the oxygen levels in your blood increase. After 12 hours, your carbon monoxide blood levels drop to normal. After 2 days of not smoking, you’ll have heightened senses of smell and taste. 3 days later, your bronchial tubes relax and breathing may feel less labored than before. During the first 9 months smoke free, your shortness of breath will improve, and the tiny cilia hairs in your lungs will regain function, allowing your body to clean your lungs. After 1 full year, your risk of heart disease is about half compared with a smoker. After 15 years of being smoke-free, your risk of a heart attack falls to the same as someone who has never smoked.

Randomness and Probabilities

It is true that tendencies can be predicted with relative accuracy over statistically significant periods of time and play. For instance, if a coin is flipped ten times, it is far more likely to land heads four times than it is to land heads only once. However, each flip is an independent event. Simply put, the coin is a coin: it does not know anything, it does not know how many times it has been flipped, nor does it know how many times it has already landed heads. So each time a coin is flipped, the probability that it will land heads, always remains 50%.

A Healthy Brain Helps Your Hearing

Did you know that although hearing loss can be hereditary and a natural result of aging, there are proactive steps you can take to keep your hearing sharp and healthy? Your ears receive sounds, but your brain processes all the wonderful, (and maybe not so wonderful) sounds that you hear. So, keeping your brain healthy can help to keep your hearing healthy too. Puzzles like Sudoku, crosswords, and word searches help to maintain healthy brain tissue and the neural connections necessary for processing sensory information. However, if you suspect that you are suffering from hearing loss, be sure to speak to a hearing professional.

Balancing the Blues

As the seasons change, for some so does their sunny disposition. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), often called “winter blues”, affects about 35% of the Canadian population. The usual symptoms include fatigue, sadness and apathy. There are things you can do to help alleviate these symptoms. Managing stress, especially around the holidays, a healthy diet, exercise and seeking the sun are all important ways to combat SAD! If you’re finding no relief, speak to your health care provider and seek treatment. Life is the gift we receive to be enjoyed.

Managing the Stress of the Season

With the arrival of fall and the hustle and bustle of the holiday season approaching, we can feel overwhelmed with all the extra ‘stuff’ we all need to get done. The added baking, cooking, cleaning, shopping and visiting. As the demands start to add up, having a little help makes the season more enjoyable. By delegating some of the tasks to in-home service and personal care providers, you are allowing more time to enjoy the season with friends and family. We all need help managing the holiday season. There is comfort in knowing you and your loved one are supported.
