Dealing with Grief & Trauma

Trauma and grief often go hand-in-hand, and learning how to mourn can be a crucial part of healing from grief and trauma. Grief is the reactions that we must mourn through a shift to an active, shared response instead of a passive, isolated one. Six ways to help active mourning include: 1) Acknowledging the loss is real. 2) Interacting with the pain instead of avoiding it. 3) Honouring what you loved about who/what you are mourning. 4) Discovering the new you in the context of loss. 5) Finding meaning and purpose beyond what happened. 6) Getting ongoing support and talking with loved ones and/or a professional.

Words to Live By

“Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” – Orison Swett Marden

Fear of Falls Causes Unsafe Behavior

When someone is fearful of falling, they start to avoid everyday activities by staying at home and doing less. This lack of activity leads to loss of strength, reduced muscle tone, and loss of coordination and balance. This physical deterioration increases the risk of falling and if a fall does occur, it further heightens the fear. Turn your fear of falling into positive actions; remain active, exercise regularly, use assistive devices such as walkers or grab bars and wear sensible shoes. Consider joining a group session designed especially to teach balance exercises for fall prevention.

Healing Through Blood Flow

BEMER is changing the way we think about our health, challenging our understanding of the human body, and empowering us to reach optimal physical condition in a natural, non-invasive way. If micro-circulation to each cell is improved, cardiac function is enhanced, strength and energy increase, mental acuity and concentration are improved, detoxification processes improve, stress is reduced and sleep improves! ALL 100 trillion cells in the body are affected by blood flow, so ALL cells have a chance at healing. Imagine feeling better tomorrow than you do today!

Welcoming Patients Back Safely

We have great news! Our clinic is now open for regular service. We’re taking extra measures to protect you and our staff during these times, including: asking screening questions about travel and health; having patients wait outside until they are called in for their appointment; asking patients to sanitize their hands and use mouthwash; wearing masks, face shields/safety glasses and gowns; sanitizing all equipment and surfaces; sterilizing all instruments and tools; and equipping front desks with Plexiglas, hand sanitizer, gloves, and masks. We’re ready to serve you in a safe environment and look forward to seeing you soon! J. Lane Janke RD, James Bay Denturists, JBSdenturists.com

Effects of Social Isolation

Several studies have shown social isolation can negatively affect your health. This National Institute on Aging primer notes that loneliness can lead to high blood pressure, depression, and put you at greater risk of illness. That could mean more doctor’s visits and higher health care costs. And what if you or your loved one takes a fall with no one around? Beyond the physical pain, the financial implications could be high. And then there’s the emotional toll of social isolation, which can be even more devastating. These are all things to consider when deciding whether you or your loved one spend the next chapter of life at home or in a senior living community.

Limitation, Challenge and Creativity

Many years ago, I took a modern dance workshop where we were assigned to create a piece of choreography given one instruction, that the dance be on a straight line, and we weren’t to move off that line. After stunned silence, processing this nonsensical limitation, we slowly, tentatively engaged this challenge, and what happened was magic. We were taught that our own ideas about the way something SHOULD be IS the limitation. The exercise forced us to open to new ideas, new possibilities, and new ways of expression, which we never would have otherwise, and in so doing, expanded our worlds. The key was that we were willing to be challenged and opened in the first place.

Support is available to aide in career planning, job search skills, identifying and overcoming employment barriers, resume/cover letter development, interview skills, as well as creating and refining action plans. With the increase of people on unemployment and businesses closing their doors for now and some indefinitely, the need for employment assistance maybe more essential than ever. 3D Healing for Trauma

When a traumatic event happens, emotional information is created and then stored in two places – as a memory in our brain and as an emotion/feeling in the body! Stored and unprocessed emotional trauma is the root cause of many health issues as proven in numerous scientific clinical research studies around the world. The energetic stored negative emotion can be easily removed without pain through the use of a new 3D-Healing application based on Quantum Hypnotherapy. If you experienced a traumatic event, seek help. PTSD can be resolved so that life can continue to be in a happy place.
