The Diabetes Research Group runs clinical trials on innovations in care, patient education, and treatment of diabetes and related disorders. Manitobans interested in participating in a study can contact the Diabetes Research Group and will be triaged by a nurse and then contacted again if they qualify for specific trials. Participants in trials frequently receive diabetes education, case management services and have medical supplies provided. What patients receive does depend on the specifics of the trial they are involved in, however, and a consent form must be signed prior to participating.
