A Man’s Worst Enemy

In cardiovascular disease, cholesterol plaques block the arteries in the heart and brain. If a plaque becomes unstable, a blood clot forms, blocking the artery and causing a heart attack or stroke. Cardiovascular disease is the second leading cause of death in Canada. But there are ways to improve this statistic: Get your cholesterol and blood pressure checked and manage your blood sugars. If you smoke, stop. Reduce your inflammation by adjusting your diet, reducing stress and regular exercise.
