Words can’t describe how grateful we are to each and every donor out there that allowed us to purchase over $1.2 million dollars in much needed equipment for the Brandon Regional Health Centre this year. A special thanks as well to our hard-working staff and board of directors.” Visit our website for a full listing of all the 2020 purchases.

Skin Cancer Awareness Month
As May marks both Melanoma Awareness Month and the beginning of summer, it is imperative that we be reminded of the importance of sun safety at this time of year. When selecting sunscreen, go for the “broad spectrum” protection. Sunscreens with this label protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Make sure your sunscreen has a sun protection factor of 30 or higher. Physical blockers (titanium dioxide, zinc oxide) provide the best protection and cause less skin irritation than chemical sunscreens. Limit sun exposure between 10 am and 4 pm and wear protective clothing (long sleeves, hats and sunglasses). Be sure to get regular skin cancer screenings.

Quit Smoking with Laser Therapy
Is quitting smoking on your ‘Spring To-Do List’? Have you tried just about everything, with little success? Laser Therapy is clinically proven to help to control cravings and withdrawal symptoms, with a 95-98% success rate! In clinical studies, patients report a noticeable reduction in cravings, and have a higher chance of success in quitting. The benefits of quitting smoking with laser over other interventions include no medications with unpleasant side effects, no unhealthy nicotine in your system in the form of patches, and pleasant side effects of relaxation which are a result of the endorphins released in response to the laser.
Benefits of a Removable Partial Denture
A removable partial denture (RPD) replaces one or more missing teeth. Your denturist will personally design an RPD to help limit movement (tipping and migrating) of your natural teeth. The design will also provide even contact between teeth to allow for better grinding/chewing of your food for easier digestion. Metal partials are preferred, as they are structurally superior, thinner, and more hygienic than an acrylic partial. By replacing any missing natural teeth with an RPD, a natural appearance and speech clarity is restored, along with the ability to chew more efficiently.
