Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is an effective therapeutic technique used in physiotherapy clinics. IMS uses small, pin-like needles to reduce muscle tension, eliminate pain, restore range of motion, and promote a return to normal function. Sometimes known as Functional Dry Needling (FDN), it is used to treat “trigger points” or “knots” within the body. As the needle is inserted into the muscle tissue, a patient usually experiences a feeling of localized cramping, twitching, or aching within the muscle followed by a release. Despite this initial short-term discomfort, patients respond quickly as it promotes healing and better function.
How to Maintain a Healthy Body & Mind
Your body needs to be in proper acid/alkaline balance to maintain good Health. Therefore it is important to be mindful of what you EAT, DRINK and THINK! Secondly, drink Alkaline electron-rich water to promote superior hydration, detoxification and antioxidation to neutralize the acids that are caused by foods, drinks and lifestyle choices. Thirdly, stress can cause over acidity in your body. Find effective ways to de-stress your mind and body by getting enough rest, exercising, breathing and meditation, and doing things that give you more energy and make you happy!
Treat Your Jaw Pain
Clenching and grinding your teeth, whether during the day or at night, is the most common cause of jaw pain. Over time, the heightened muscle activity can lead to trigger points within the chewing muscles that may cause pain, soreness, limited mouth opening, and even headaches. Physiotherapy can provide effective treatment for temporomandibular dysfunction. Your therapist may use a combination of manual therapy, intra-oral massage, dry needling, and home exercises to decrease muscle tone and encourage relaxation. Try to avoid the forward head posture, common when in front of a computer, as it negatively affects the biomechanics of the jaw.

Take it Step by Step
It’s been said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Successful people don’t necessarily set out to do big things, but they do a lot of little things that accumulate into huge triumphs. What’s the thing you want to change in your life? A relationship, an addiction, a problem at work, your health? Even though you might have a big goal in mind, try to boil it down to one or two “next steps” and focus on those. This approach will offer up a cycle of positive reinforcement that will help achieve your bigger dreams.
Drink Up!
Summer is here, and it’s extremely important to make sure you’re drinking enough water to avoid dehydration! Especially for older individuals, dehydration can result in dizziness, fainting, low blood pressure and irregular bowel movements. Most adults should drink at least 8-12 glasses of water per day for adequate hydration. Here are a few tips to ensure you’re drinking enough:
• Drink water with your meals and keep a jug of water on the table for easy access.
• Carry a water bottle with you at school, at work or when running errands.
• For flavor, try adding lime, cucumber slices or lemon to your water
Living with Vision Loss?
It can be a difficult time when a family member experiences a loss of sight. When vision loss is affecting a loved one’s independence, safety or mobility it may be time to start a rehabilitation plan. Besides trauma, eye diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and some inherited eye disorders can cause mild to severe vision loss. Talk to your Optometrist so you can understand your vision loss and prognosis. Your Optometrist can guide you about Vision Loss Rehabilitation Manitoba, and low vision assistance. Services and support are available to enhance a patient’s independence.
Optimize Your Health
Optimize your neurology and you optimize your health! Did you know that the metatarsal area of your foot has over 10,000 nerve receptors? Their main purpose in life is to report back to your brain, via your nervous system, what is happening in your body. A neurological problem, such as MS, Parkinson’s, and Fibromyalgia can compromise messaging to the brain. Voxxlife HPT helps to improve that communication. VOXX HPT is a very specific sequence and pattern of neuroreceptor activation on the bottom of the feet that triggers a signal that aides in the brainstem reaching homeostasis.
Good Vision = Better learning
Starting school is the perfect time to take your kid for a comprehensive eye exam. Some eye problems can’t be corrected as well if you wait until age 8 or 10. Eye exams are child friendly – your child doesn’t need to know his/her alphabet in order to have an accurate exam. 80% of a child’s learning is based on vision. Eye sight and health are critical for doing well in school. ALL children should have a thorough eye exam before they enter school. Eye exams are covered by MH for all children under 19 yearly.
Chiropractic Care may Reduce Depression
There are two primary reasons why visiting a chiropractor can help people suffering with depression. First, chiropractic care is known to reduce and eliminate physical pain, which can improve mental health, relieving depression. Chiropractic treatment can also improve the way the nervous system functions, which can have a positive effect on your mental and emotional wellbeing. The health of the spine has an impact on all aspects of physical and mental health so it’s important to remove stress from the spine in order to help the body and mind return to a higher state of health and wellness.
Float Your Worries Away
Floatation therapy is the practice of lying back and effortlessly floating in a custom-built, open-concept float tub and drifting into a blissful, deep, meditative state that rejuvenates and revives your mind and body. Not having the external influences of sight, sound, or touch helps move you into the meditative state faster. In this state, you can work towards healing, both emotionally and physically, in a completely natural way. Floatation therapy is used as a way to treat anxiety, stress, PTSD, depression, chronic pains, and many more issues we all face. It’s truly an amazing way to float your worries away.
