Riding a bicycle has many health benefits. Getting outside, taking deep breaths of fresh air and feeling the rhythm of your legs are all so good for you. Bicycling on a regular basis has been shown to improve heart health, muscle and bone strength, joint flexibility and reduce stress. An electric bike makes all of these benefits more accessible. The power assistance eliminates stress on your knees and hips and allows you to use as much of your own energy as you like. Hills become easy-peasy and barriers to riding disappear. You get more exercise because it’s so much fun you’ll want to ride it everywhere.
Sunglasses are the Best Protection for Your Eyes
Sunglasses protect your eyes due to the physical barrier, but also protect your eyes from harmful Ultra-Violet radiation from the sun which cause cataracts and macular degeneration. The lens inside our eyes becomes cloudy due to sun exposure over the years and wearing sunglasses with a UV400 blocker slows down this natural progression. The macula that we use to see faces and read documents breaks down with exposure to UV rays causing a loss of central vision. Prevention is the key to maintaining good vision – wear good quality sunglasses with good coverage to protect your precious eyes for a lifetime!

You Can Keep Anxiety Under Control
In 2013, 3 million adult Canadians reported they had an anxiety disorder. Currently, 93% of them are taking or have taken prescription medication but only 20% have received psychological support to help manage the disorder. The good news is that you can reprogram your mind to stop triggering your natural alarm system in normal situations. Your mind can be programmed to help it deal with anxiety in a healthy way. You choose the program you want to keep in your mind the same way that you choose what software to upload into your computer.
Nourishing the Brain
Demonized for decades, fat is now recognised as one solution for many brain related disorders such as depression and Alzheimer’s. Our brains require Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) but unlike cholesterol that is produced in our liver and intestines, our bodies do not produce EFA. We have to get them from the food we eat. These essential fatty acids known as Omega 3 and 6’s help build brains structures as well as the Nerves and Neurotransmitters required for optimal health. Good sources of omega 3’s include sardines, salmon, nuts, seeds, avocados, olive oils and free range eggs.
Stress-Free Way to Get There
People travel from all over the world to visit British Columbia. A stress-fee way to experience our many attraction is to leave the organizing and driving to the professionals. Sit back in a spacious, modern and air-conditioned bus without worrying about traffic or space on the ferry. Spend time socializing with friends or meet new ones, while your own personal chauffeur gets you safely to where you are going. Make this the year to experience the fireworks at Butchart Gardens, take a trip on the Lady Rose or go see the Blue Jays play in Seattle.
Benefits of a Medical Pedicure
The feet are one of the most neglected parts of the body. Any problems occurring in the feet affects everyday performance and quality of life. A medical pedicure is not just a simple trimming or buffing of the nails. It starts with a special foot soak to soften the nails and callouses for easy removal. A full foot gait analysis, bone structure, nail and skin assessment determine any problem areas. Your qualified foot care practitioner can provide advice and tools necessary to prevent potential injury or infection. A quality “medi-pedi” takes up to an hour and includes treatment records and a client consultation.
Keep your Eyes Healthy
Here are some tips to keep your eyes safe and healthy. Wear eye protection when playing sports. Maintain a healthy weight; being overweight or obese increases your risk of developing diabetes and other systemic conditions which can impact the eyes. Eat right to protect your sight; a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, particularly dark leafy ones is important for keeping your eyes healthy. Be cool and wear your shades, preferable ones that block out 99 to 100 percent of UV-A and UV-B radiation. Make an appointment with your eye care professional for a comprehensive dilated eye exam to ensure that your eyes are healthy.

A Correct Diagnosis
If you or a loved one have concerns about memory loss or other symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia, it is important to be evaluated by a physician. A thorough medical history, mental status and mood testing, physical and neurological exam and tests such as blood tests and brain imaging can be used to rule out other causes of dementia like symptoms, such as thyroid, head trauma, infections, depression etc. There are many types of dementia; a diagnosis is so important when looking at the best way to manage each individual’s condition.
