Alternative Healing  –  Frankincense is in Season!

Frankincense is especially popular during the Christmas season due to it’s reputed history as being one of the gifts that was given by the Magi to the Christ child. The historical physical, mental and spiritual health benefits of the resin and essential oil continue to be corroborated by science including research into the pain management, immune enhancing and cancer preventative properties. One client provided this testimonial and attributed his relief to frankincense.“When I broke my wrist and fractured my hip recently, I had a bit of trouble accepting that an essential oil could make a difference. What a pleasant surprise I got when I followed Nelson’s instructions and choices and tried them. My painful muscle spasms went down about 80% instantly. Sleep came much easier. Thanks Nelson for your help!” – Alan F. Courtenay, BC

Top 5 Reasons NOT to snowshoe with your dog. NOT! Reason #1The snow is coming and its going to get cold. Solution: We are Winnipeggers and the toughest around. Start digging out your snow gear and do an inventory. Dress accordingly. Reason #2: It gets dark early. Solution: Get a head lamp. Its amazing the types on the market now and how well they illuminate. Reason #3: I don’t want to go out alone. Solution: Find some friends or family or join a Snowshoeing group and make it a social activity rather than a chore. Reason #4: I don’t own shoe shoes. Solution: There are multiple places in the city that rent snowshoes, or you can make that your first winter purchase this year. Reason #5: My dog doesn’t like the snow. Solution: Try snowshoeing for 2 weeks. Guaranteed your dog will get excited when they see the snowshoes coming out. Equipping your dog with the right warm gear too can help persuade them. Get out there and enjoy what Winterpeg has to offer today!

Potential Benefits of Reflexology

Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principal that there are reflexes in the feet, hands, and ears that correspond with every gland, organ, and system in the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation, and helps promote the body’s natural function. Reflexology accelerates the body’s self-healing ability; it assists the body in returning to a natural self-healing state (homeostasis). Reflexology helps relieve tension, which often contributes to pain and discomfort. When the body is in balance it is able to function as intended. This may mean you see improvements in pain management, digestion, sleep patterns, and circulation. Reflexology may also help balance hormones. Reflexology has been known to assist in the healing of most ailments, however reflexology is not suitable for all conditions, consult a registered reflexologist to find out if reflexology is right for you.

Financial Wellness

How can a person reduce the amount of income tax paid by their estate? The simplest solution is to leave taxable assets to your spouse to take advantage of the tax-free rollover, but there are other solutions that a Financial Advisor can help you with. A person’s final tax return is filed by the executor of their estate and is very special. It assumes that every asset owned by the deceased, including investments such as RRSPs, RRIFs, and LIRAs, is sold for fair market value, even if those assets are bequeathed to family or friends, not physically sold. This is called a “deemed disposition” and it can trigger a substantial amount of taxes. These amounts add up quickly and, with a top income tax bracket of 46.40% in Manitoba, can deplete a significant portion of your estate. Estate planning ahead of time will help keep your family secure for generations.

Tune-Up Your Body

We schedule our vehicles for bi-annual tune-ups, but do we do the same for our bodies?  Unlike a car, if your body’s engine stops running, you cannot purchase a new one.  Over time, our bodies accumulate toxins and waste products from our environment which slow our organs down and compromise our immunity.  Fatigue, headaches, and dis-ease can ensue.  Body and Sole Wellness offers body tune-ups in the form of Eastern-based healing modalities designed to rid the body of unnecessary debris. Once the excess is removed, the body can again flow freely… like a smoothly running engine! These techniques include certified foot reflexology, ionizing detox foot baths, ear candling, guasha (scraping), energetic body cleanses and more!  Unclog your system today – your Body and Sole will thank you! Tuesdays at Vitality Wellness Centre.  House calls available.

Renew Your Routine

As summer slips into fall, we transition from the carefree living of summer back into our regular routines. For many that means recommitting to regular exercise, healthy eating, and weight management. Fall is a season of transition and a natural time for committing to a healthy lifestyle. The first step is to acknowledge that a healthy lifestyle is a priority. You have to want this so, identify your internal motivators and then tap into them. When you remind yourself of how healthy habits improve your life, you’ll be more likely to stick with them. Secondly, schedule your exercise. Treat workouts as seriously as you would a doctor’s appointment – they are just as important for your health. Thirdly, catch the energy of cooler temperatures to become even more active. Fall is an invigorating season. Tap into that energy and use it to craft your perfect, healthful, rest-of-the-year routine.
