In partnership with LUSH Valley Food Action Society, CVSS provides 82 meals a week to seniors in the Comox Valley. While some seniors contribute to the cost of the weekly meals, they are heavily subsidized. A donation of $12 a week will provide between two and four meals for a senior in the Valley, helping ensure food security for vulnerable residents. Donations can be made at the CVSS office, or by cheque, via mail at C1-450 8th Street, Courtenay, BC, V9N 1N5. Tax receipts are provided for donations over $20. Alternatively, monthly donations can be set up on our Canada Helps website at: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/comox-valley-senior-support/
Managing Adult Scoliosis & Kyphosis
Adults and seniors with diagnoses like Scoliosis and Kyphosis are experiencing positive outcomes through physiotherapy, particularly when degenerative changes, osteoporosis, or osteoarthritis are also present. The mature adult spine can be less flexible and demands a targeted focus on enhancing body mechanics, posture, and daily movement. Treatment objectives for adults revolve around these aspects, with the correction of scoliotic posture being pivotal to impede structural progression and alleviate pain. Conservative treatments, aiming to enhance scoliosis-related body appearance, hold significance across age groups, significantly impacting quality of life and emphasizing the aesthetic dimension. This physiotherapy approach is indispensable in effectively managing spinal asymmetries.

Although family members, friends, employers and co-workers are often in the best position to intervene, on average, significant others do not seek direct help for their loved ones substance abuse or addiction problem for at least nine years. Those affected by a significant other’s substance abuse, may themselves experience significant physical, emotional, social and spiritual stressors. Some commonly experience anxiety, depression, and feelings of hopelessness when trying to deal with their loved one.
Supporting Our Communities
Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) is an annual event that supports people in our communities who have experienced homelessness. This fundraiser helps ICCS run programs that provide shelter, care and holistic support to help them step forward to independence and hope. CNOY 2024 takes place on February 24th, 2024, drawing individuals together to support the cause through raising money as well as taking part in a 2 km or 5 km walk. Across Canada, over 180 communities are involved with CNOY, supported by people who care about their communities and the most vulnerable people who live in them.
