Carpal tunnel syndrome describes median nerve compression at the wrist, and can cause pain and/or numbness in the palm of the hand. Similar symptoms can be caused by compression of nerves near the elbow, shoulder or neck so a detailed physical examination is important before providing treatment. Treatment options can include laser therapy, soft tissue therapies to reduce compression on the affected nerve, and home exercises including nerve flossing exercises.
