Align Your Spine, Elevate Your Health

Chiropractic care supports more than your spine—it plays a key role in your body’s overall function. Your nervous system, which controls every organ and muscle, is housed within your spine. Dysfunction can interfere with nerve communication, leading to a host of symptoms including: fatigue, tension, and even digestive issues. As part of your self-care routine, chiropractic adjustments help restore balance and improve nervous system performance. Incorporating mindful movement, proper hydration, and good posture into daily life complements this care and enhances results. Think of chiropractic not just as pain relief, but as a proactive tool for long-term wellness and vitality.

Grass-Fed Beef Benefits

Understanding grass-fed, grass-finished, and grain-fed beef reveals significant advantages. Grass-fed and grass-finished beef offer numerous benefits: 1: Fewer Calories: Switching to grass-fed beef can save calories yearly due to lower fat content. 2: Supports Healthy Blood Sugar: CLA in grass-fed beef aids insulin sensitivity, promoting better blood sugar control. 3: Electrolytes: Grass-fed beef replenishes essential electrolytes, crucial during dietary changes. 4. Healthy Fats: Grass-fed beef offers six times more omega–3 fatty acids than grain-fed, reducing inflammation and improving mental health.

Stay Active to Reduce Dementia Risk

Staying physically active is beneficial to our overall health, but did you know it can also help reduce the risk of dementia? Here are five simple tips to help you stay active for a healthy brain:
1. Start small by adding just a bit of physical activity into your daily routine
2. Have a friend join you – activities can be more fun (and safer) with friends
3. Keep it simple – do activities that work with you, not against you
4. Try aerobic activities – things that increase the heart rate temporarily, like swimming, cycling or jogging
5. Focus on what makes you happy by choosing activities you enjoy.

Avoid Summer Food Poisoning

Foodborne illness peaks in the summer, as more people are cooking outside without the safety controls of a kitchen. Symptoms of food poisoning typically include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever. The severity and duration of symptoms vary depending on the type and amount of contaminated food ingested. Common causes of food poisoning include improper food handling, inadequate cooking, cross-contamination, and consuming expired or spoiled food. It is essential to practice good hygiene, proper food storage, thorough cooking, and regular handwashing to prevent foodborne illnesses. If food poisoning is suspected, seeking medical attention, staying hydrated, and resting are crucial for recovery and avoiding complications.

Ocular Discomfort and Eye Fatigue

If you experience blurry or double vision, eye discomfort, or daily headaches with vision at work, you could be dealing with eye fatigue related to extensive eye use in a challenging visual environment. Contributing factors can include eye muscle or eye focussing inadequacies, dry eyes, improper computer ergonomics, eye refractive changes, over exposure to low wavelength light, and underlying health conditions. A complete eye exam that includes a good case history, testing of visual functions, ocular health assessment, and an understanding of treatment options, are all important to diagnose and manage the problem.

A Reason to Smile Again

For many, tooth loss brings a cascade of negative emotions, from embarrassment to a profound loss of confidence. This is where dentures come into play. Beyond their functional role in improving speech and allowing individuals to eat comfortably, dentures also play a role in self-esteem. Many denture wearers report feeling more comfortable in social situations and smiling more freely. While the adjustment period may bring some challenges, the emotional benefits are significant. With proper fit and care, dentures can help individuals feel like themselves again—confident, empowered, and ready to face the world with a renewed sense of self-worth.

Sunscreen 101

Are you protecting your skin from the summer sun? Choosing the right sunscreen is key to preventing sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer. Start by selecting a broad-spectrum sunscreen—this means it guards against both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays. Look for a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or higher. While higher SPFs offer slightly more protection, the benefits level off above SPF 50. Next, check the ingredients. Physical (or mineral) sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are great choices. They sit on the skin’s surface to deflect UV rays and tend to cause less irritation than chemical options. Apply generously and reapply every two hours.
