If you ever find yourself confused at a four-way stop – just go home. Life only gets more complicated after that. FUN FACT: If two or more vehicles arrive at a four-way stop at the same time, the vehicle on the furthest to the right has the right of way. Stay safe out there!
Mindfulness Retreat
The power of mindfulness meditation is well recognized. Indeed, it is the foundation to my personal wellness. But, first I needed to understand the science behind it. Once I did, I knew it was the tool I had been seeking.
Join me at Chalet Point Retreat Centre, where I lead classes in a variety of topics: understanding the concept of self, exploring the mind-body connection, the power of focused attention, and the psychology of motivation. Overlooking beautiful Lake Winnipeg, Chalet Point is just a one-hour drive from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Perfect for small groups, with half-day, full-day, and overnight options.
Master Your December Stress!
December has many things happening. The sun goes down earlier, making daylight hours short, and we don’t get a lot of sun. Work seems to be busier, and there are more commitments. With all of this pressure, it is easy to feel a little less than yourself. If the stress and anxiety are getting to you, it may be time for an acu-nap. Acupuncture has been shown to be a promising treatment for anxiety and stress. Making time for yourself is also recommended. So, make a bit of time for yourself and get in for an acu-nap to get the benefits of both.
Massage Your Nervous System
Massage therapy does not only improve your body´s physical state, but it also has a dramatic effect on your nervous system. Your nervous system is the one that maintains your body´s homeostasis, which is the state of equilibrium, balance or stable internal environment of your body. Research has shown that therapeutic massage therapy stimulates the nervous system to produce hormones that have tremendous benefit on the entire body. This stimulation removes the toxins and wastes in a more efficient way, helping oxygen to flow without difficulty through your body´s systems, restoring vitality and energy.
Managing Disagreement About Parent’s Care
Conflict between siblings is relatively common when it comes to making decisions on caregiving responsibilities. Left unchecked, these spats can quickly unravel into full-blown family conflict — all while an elderly parent is waiting to receive the support he or she needs. But who’s going to pay for all of this? Money is one of the most frequent sparks that lights conflict between siblings. Some families find it’s easier to work through disagreements when there is a neutral party there to act as a ‘referee’. Someone like a family counselor or mediator can help keep the discussion moving in the right direction.
Investing in a Hybrid Vehicle
While hybrid vehicles may require a higher budget to start compared with conventional vehicles, the financial savings involved in owning a hybrid vehicle over time can really make a positive difference to your budget. Since the engines in hybrid vehicles are off some of the time, the wear and tear on various parts is decreased, to reduce servicing and maintenance. You may not be aware that hybrid batteries are designed to last the lifespan of the vehicle! All this and you get unbelievable cost savings at the pump. Consider investing in a hybrid vehicle and see the difference it can make!

Pharmacare 101
Pharmacare provides drug cost assistance to eligible Manitobans who do not have coverage under a federal or other provincial program. Pharmacare is income based, which means a yearly deductible is calculated based on the total adjusted family income (usually ranges from 3.01-6.81%). Once the deductible has been reached (minimum $100, no maximum) through the purchase of eligible prescription drugs at a pharmacy, Pharmacare will pay 100% of eligible prescription costs for the remainder of the benefit year. You should apply for Pharmacare even if you have private insurance. Application forms can be found online at the government of Manitoba website or at your local pharmacy.
Effects of Concussions on Vision
When someone has a head injury, they typically have vision problems that can be temporary or permanent. When a vision problem is causing or contributing to a problem with reading, balance, or movement, the recovery process will move slowly until the vision component is treated. Some symptoms might disappear after a while, such as eye pain or headaches, and yet other symptoms may remain, such as blurred or double vision, or vice versa. If you suspect that a concussion has caused vision problems resulting in difficulty coping with daily activities, see a developmental optometrist for a visual evaluation.
Self-Care for the Holidays
As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is fast approaching, it is important to be mindful of the precious little moments that we tend to take for granted. Grab a journal or a pad of paper and write down three things that you are grateful for every day. You can even make this a family project. Studies have shown that having gratitude can lower stress, anxiety, and depression. Some other tips that will keep us feeling our best:
• Drink more water
• Eat a clean diet
• Go to sleep earlier
• Volunteer at a local shelter or organization
• Practice mindful breathing
• Exercise daily
• Spend time with people who make you happy.
Fatigue and Blood Sugar
Fatigue is associated with blood sugar disturbances. The three organs that do most of the sugar regulating are the adrenals, the liver, and the islets in the pancreas. The liver’s role in blood sugar regulation is to get it out of storage when needed. The adrenals help regulate blood sugar and influence the thyroid, which is another energy-related organ. The heart of sugar regulation is in your pancreas. When toxins and pathogens take up residence in these organs, their work is hampered and fatigue sets in. Bioresonance therapy can help to clean up these organs and improve your energy level.
