Benefits of In-Home Pet Sitting
If work or travel keep you away from your pets, you’ve likely considered various pet-care options, from boarding your pets at a boarding facility or animal hospital, to securing the services of a professional pet sitter. More and more pet owners are taking advantage of the benefits in-home pet care provides: • Diet and exercise routines are uninterrupted. • Pets are happier and experience less stress at home. • Travel trauma for both owner and pet is eliminated. • Pet’s exposure to illness is minimized. • Untrained or unwilling friends/family/neighbors need not be called. • Your home will be taken care of (plants watered, mail taken in, etc.)
Celebrate Memories this Father’s Day
Some of the closest relationships we’ll ever have are with our dad and granddad. We never stop loving them. We appreciate their generosity of guiding and caring for us over the years. This ever-growing compassion for our loved ones can make us feel closer, whether we are fortunate to have our parents still strong by our sides, or even if they passed long ago. You can cherish their memory by considering what you remember most fondly about them. This Father’s Day, Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery can help you celebrate your father, both by honouring him and sharing memories.
Best Care for Your Needs
When do you need emergency care vs. outpatient care in a clinic or a house call?
Many patients end up in emergency frustrated by the wait. The main reasons are that there are many other people who are also very sick, or your symptoms and condition are not necessarily considered emergent. When your condition is not emergent, you will generally wait a very long time in order to see a doctor.
Try looking for care in the best setting that will serve your needs – walk-in, family doctor, emergency, or house call.
What is Geriatric Mental Health?
The well-being of older adults is a major social and health concern in Canada. Geriatric mental health (GMH) refers to the multidisciplinary practice in the assessment and treatment of mental illness or impairment of older adults, from the bio-psycho-social perspective. Older adults often receive inadequate or inappropriate mental health services. Provision of appropriate and effective care is a challenge because of the complexity of determining the differential diagnosis of health problems in elders. A GMH team consists of health professionals such as geriatric psychiatrists, clinical nurse specialists, psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers.

Tips for Increasing Bone Density
As you may or may not know, as you age your bones become thinner and their density decreases. This can make you more susceptible to injury. There are numerous things that you can do to slow down this process, such as with a proper diet and exercise. Eating calcium-rich foods, such as dairy products, leafy vegetables, fish with bones, and legumes, can help. Exercises that are load or weight bearing, such as walking, jogging, elliptical machines, and dancing, also can aid in building bone density. Be sure to consult your doctor first before beginning any exercise programs!
