Tips for Safe Shoveling

There are many ways to make shoveling less difficult throughout these long winter months…

  1. Take the time to do a few minutes of warm-up activity like walking to increase your heart rate and prepare you for the activity.
  2. Wear appropriate clothing and keep hydrated to replace fluids due to perspiration.
  3. Stop if you experience sudden shortness of breath, discomfort in the chest, lightheadedness, nausea, dizziness, or severe headache and seek medical attention.
  4. When shoveling always try to plan ahead, and if you need help, simply ask for help from family, friends or neighbours.
  5. Don’t shovel or do any other vigorous activity directly after eating a meal.
  6. Always bend at the knees to avoid back injury.

Therapeutic Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a safe and noninvasive therapy using a rapidly changing magnetic field to stimulate neurons in the brain. TMS is showing as a major breakthrough in treating depression in cases that are resistant to any other forms of treatment, including prescription drugs.

The physical body is the signature of the electric body. It is based on Einstein’s view of matter, which states “matter will release energy when taken apart.” This model sees the human body as a network of energy fields that co-exist and co-mingle together. Everything we do, eat, drink involves “energy” that influences the bioelectric body. It is important to be aware of everything that we put into our bodies, because disease is a manifestation of negative energy.

Do you feel trapped?

Winter is coming! Many of us lose motivation when it comes to going outdoors throughout these cold winter months. We want to hibernate but our high efficiency homes are a petrie dish for viruses, bacteria and mold.

The air quality in our homes is significantly worse than the cold outdoor air. Schools, business offices and medical facilities actively contribute to this problem. There are quality air filtration systems available to help resolve this issue that also help with asthma, allergies, COPD, colds, and flu.

Let’s ensure we don’t suffer by feeling miserable all winter long. It’s time to breathe easier and live well!

Balance Your Body

Do you suffer from stiff muscles, digestive upset, or fatigue?

Sometimes referred to as passive yoga, Thai Massage originated 2,000 years ago and uses a combination of pressure points and yoga stretching to help relieve tension and promote healing throughout the entire body. The massage is given clothed on a mat on the floor without any use of oils. The assisted yoga stretches help to achieve a deeper stretch of the muscles and joints.

Combined with acupressure, the massage aims to achieve a balanced energy state. As each massage is dynamically designed for each individual’s needs, it is suitable for those with a range of conditions including arthritis, tight muscles, anxiety and digestive upset. Hot Stone Massage

This truly unique style of massage, has been gaining popularity throughout the world after being re-discovered in the United States in 1993.

The story is that a massage therapist, named Mary Nelson, who was suffering from repetitive use injuries in the shoulders and wrists, was having a sauna with her niece and was “called” to the stones. Mary picked up some of the hot stones and started massaging her niece with them – it felt great (for her niece as well as herself) and thus Stone Therapy’s reawakening occurred.

The three main cultures which have heavily influenced stone therapy are the Chinese, the Native Americans and the Hawaiians as there are recorded uses of all of them using hot stones as therapeutic tools. Hot Stone Massage is one of the most relaxing forms of massage a person can receive and because of its popularity, has once again traveled quickly around the globe.

High Blood Pressure?

Hypertension is not just a disease of blood pressure, it is a disease that can occur in conjunction with other conditions. Elevated blood pressure is the result of abnormal vascular changes, inflammation and chemical reactions. The new approach to treat blood pressure is to find and treat the sources of the cause.

A quick and simple way to do this is to have a Digital Pulsewave Analysis Test. This can determine the elasticity or stiffness of the arterial wall. If hardening of the blood vessels, or a decrease in circulation are identified, natural supplementation such as CardioforLife can be taken to help. It and other natural products which increase nitric oxide help to reduce high blood pressure by decreasing inflammation, reducing oxidative stress and fortifying the blood vessels. It is important to realize that there are natural treatments available to help with high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a safe and effective method used to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate the look of your skin. It decreases and eliminates deep wrinkles, fine lines, bags under the eyes, droopy eyelids, and slows the aging process.

Energy pathways or meridians are stimulated to increase local blood circulation to the face, oxygenating, firming and toning the skin. It also increases natural collagen production, helping to diminish fine lines and improve overall skin tone for a healthy, glowing complexion.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is an excellent alternative to cosmetic surgery, chemical peels, and injections. It is a much safer alternative with no side effects and marked improvements in skin expected to last up to five years. Acupuncture is a holistic treatment that not only restores a youthful glow to your face but also improves the overall health of your body. ,

Poor Posture Got You Down?

Do you sit at a desk all day and a couch all night?

Our sedentary lifestyle contributes to poor posture, and in turn causes back aches and other ailments, but you can work on it with a few easy tips. During the day try to walk and sit tall and keep chin tucked. If seated for more than 20 minutes, stand and roll shoulders 5-10 times.

There are also corrective exercises you can try at home. Using a door jam, stand tall with shoulders down and back. Place forearms on the door jam, elbows should be bent close to 90 degrees, and upper arm should be slightly lower than shoulder height. Step through the door or into the corner with one leg maintaining a tall posture. You should feel a stretch across your chest and front of the shoulders.
