Visiting family and loved ones during the holiday season brings warmth, comfort, and a sense of belonging to Care Home residents who cannot be with their families during the Holidays. These visits brighten spirits, ease feelings of isolation, and strengthen emotional well-being. Whether it’s reminiscing over shared memories, recalling long standing Family Traditions, or simply enjoying each other’s presence, the time spent together is deeply meaningful. Even brief or virtual visits show love and care—reminding residents they are valued, remembered, loved and never alone during this special time of year.
A Season of Compassion
As Christmas approaches, it’s a time to open our hearts — not only to friends and family, but also to the animals who rely on our care. Local SPCAs work tirelessly to provide warmth, safety, and love to abandoned or neglected pets, especially through the cold winter months. Donating food, blankets, or funds can make a world of difference. This season, share the true spirit of Christmas — compassion, kindness, and a helping hand for every paw in need

Winter Home Hazzards
Winter weather can quietly impact your home and health. Poor insulation and blocked vents trap moisture, leading to mold and mildew that trigger allergies and breathing issues. Frozen pipes, roof leaks, and condensation can worsen air quality. Regular maintenance and proper ventilation help prevent these cold-season health hazards.

Health Benefits of Adjustable Beds
Adjustable beds offer numerous health benefits; improved sleep quality by alleviating discomfort and reducing snoring; alleviate acid reflux by elevating the upper body; ease back pain by supporting the spine’s natural curvature; and aid respiratory issues by opening airways. Raising the legs also enhances circulation and reduces swelling, while adjusting the bed’s height aids mobility. These beds are beneficial for recovery from surgery or injury and provide customized support. However, consulting a healthcare professional before purchase is advisable, especially for individuals with specific medical concerns
Know your Rights at Work
“WorkSafe Saskatchewan reminds every worker of their three fundamental rights in the workplace: The right to know what hazards are present, the right to participate in keeping the workplace healthy and safe and the right to refuse dangerous work. These rights are protected under The Saskatchewan Employment Act. When workers speak up and employers listen, everyone benefits. Safety is a shared responsibility—and it starts with knowing your rights. Together, we can make Saskatchewan workplaces safer.”
Healthy Holiday Season Tips
Party time: Drink a large glass of water and have a healthy snack before going to a party; add a few healthy choices in and minimize the treats. This can be a good time of year to add in a probiotic or digestive enzymes to help with the sugar over-indulgence. Alcohol – make a spritzer or use soda water to cut down on pop use. This will lead to better sleep and a happier person the next day! Don’t throw away your exercise regime – from a class at the gym to a simple walk, keep moving over the holidays. This helps to keep your mind clear and digestion moving. Be mindful – deep breathing, yoga or a simple meditation can help with holiday stress.
