Keeping Your Prostate Healthy
Maintaining a healthy prostate is important for managing conditions like prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), as well as potentially reducing the risk of prostate cancer. Some symptoms that may occur with a prostate condition include urgency, frequency and pain during urination, weak urine flow, fatigue, back pain, and blood in the urine/semen. Naturopathic doctors can provide support to those experiencing prostate conditions (including helping to reduce some treatment side effects) through nutritional support (dietary journal and guidance for proper diet), acupuncture, Bemer Therapy (increases microcirculation), intravenous nutrient therapy, and sweat detoxification through sauna and hyperthermia.

Could Diabetes Affect Your Hearing?
Diabetes can affect more than blood sugar levels. People living with diabetes are about twice as likely to experience hearing loss, yet this connection is often overlooked. Over time, elevated blood sugar may contribute to changes in the small blood vessels and nerves that support hearing, making regular monitoring important. Managing blood sugar and overall health is an important step in protecting your long term well being. A baseline hearing screening can also provide a useful reference for tracking changes over time. If you are living with diabetes, talk with your healthcare provider and consider scheduling a routine hearing test to stay proactive about your hearing health.
The Power of Taking Time
In a world that constantly encourages us to do more, there is value in intentionally doing less. Taking time to relax is not a luxury. It can be an important part of maintaining overall wellbeing. Reflexology offers a peaceful opportunity to disconnect from daily distractions and reconnect with yourself. Gentle pressure is applied to specific reflex points on the feet, hands, or ears while you relax and unwind. For many people, the experience becomes a valued part of their self care routine. Sometimes, creating space for yourself is exactly what you need to step back into your day feeling refreshed and restored.
A Nutritious Taste of Nature
What makes a simple grain worthy of a place at your table? Organic wild rice offers more than its rich, nutty flavour. This naturally gluten free grain provides fibre, plant based protein, and minerals that support a balanced diet. Its chewy texture makes it a satisfying addition to soups, salads, casseroles, and seasonal meals. As cooler November days invite us to enjoy comforting foods, consider choosing ingredients that bring both nourishment and versatility to your kitchen. Sometimes, a healthier approach to eating begins with rediscovering traditional foods and appreciating the natural goodness in every bite.
Aging and Medication Dosing
As we age, changes to our blood pressure, kidneys, and muscles can affect how our bodies handle medications. For example, some types of blood pressure medications might not work as well for elderly patients. Because our kidneys start to slow down, drugs that are cleared from the body through the kidneys often need lower doses and closer monitoring. Losing muscle is also a normal part of aging and means that our bodies end up with a higher fat component, which can also affect medication dosing. These are some of the few things that our Pharamcists will consider when prescribing and dispensing your medications.
What Are Your Feet Telling You?
“I never realized how much I needed to slow down until I gave myself permission to do so.”
After a busy day, when did you last truly pause to listen to your body? A certified reflexologist applies gentle pressure to specific points on your feet, encouraging deep relaxation, easing physical tension, and supporting your overall well-being. Many use these tailored sessions to manage everyday stress, slow down, and reconnect with themselves without distractions. When life feels completely overwhelming, taking a little time for yourself makes all the difference. Could reflexology be your perfect opportunity to step back, unwind, and fully recharge?

Lightening the Load
Aging happens to everyone – no matter how young at heart. What’s reassuring is that we can take proactive steps to age well, stay active, and live independently for as long as possible. But when should you start thinking about home care? If you’ve noticed signs that an elder needs help at home, it’s likely time to start the conversation. Contrary to common belief, a person doesn’t need to be frail or ill to benefit from professional home care. These services are designed not just for medical needs, but also to lighten the workload around the home, ensuring that daily tasks are manageable and stress-free. Early intervention with home care can help maintain a higher quality of life, enabling people to continue enjoying the activities they love in the comfort of their own homes.
