Home Care: Keeping Vulnerable Seniors Safe

The pandemic has drawn attention to issues that affect many long-term care facilities, including chronic understaffing and inadequate supplies of personal protective equipment for employees. During COVID-19, some Canadian families have opted to pull their loved ones out of seniors’ facilities and bring them home, with the support of home health care services. “Data clearly illustrates that seniors who live at home and receive in-home care have lower COVID-19 rates than institutionalized care,” says Maureen Charlebois, Chief Nursing & Clinical Officer at Bayshore HealthCare. “Our seniors deserve the dignity of staying in their own homes with excellent reliable care. Tragically, COVID-19 has proven that home care isn’t just a better experience, with this disease, it has vastly better health outcomes.”

Benefits of Home Care

Using home care assistance ensures that your loved one has the essential care they require, based on their unique circumstances, preferences and needs. Home care assistance is generally provided by home health aides, licensed caregivers or nurses. By definition, home care assistance is one-on-one. Sharing the caregiving responsibility is integral in preventing caregiver fatigue, while also offering your loved one companionship when you aren’t able to be there. Knowing your loved one is in the safe and familiar environment of their own home will provide both you and your loved one with much-needed peace of mind.

What is Integrative Microscopy?

Integrative microscopy has been our most successful tool in health assessment for over 25 years and works by analyzing one drop of unprocessed blood under a high magnification microscope in real time. While conventional treatment provides invaluable quantitative measurement, integrative microscopy is a powerful tool that looks at nutritional and cellular health. Along with a physical assessment and symptomology review, integrative microscopy helps to identify underlying causes of health issues, such as digestive efficiency, infection, excess fat circulation, or immune function. An initial comprehensive appointment takes 1.5 hours and follow-up appointments take 1 hour of one-on-one patient-practitioner interaction to ensure your practitioner can develop a personalized and complete wellness plan for you.

Chiropractic Care for Pregnancy

Why is chiropractic care so important during pregnancy? At its most basic premise, chiropractic will help you and your nervous system adapt during this major shift. It will help you deal with structural, hormonal and emotional stressors. Structurally, chiropractic will help keep your joints moving appropriately so you can make room for your growing baby. When the pelvis and low back vertebrae are moving appropriately, information can freely flow to all your muscles and organs, via your nerves. This may result in less pain and more nutrients to baby. Other benefits often seen in pregnant women under chiropractic care include headache relief, decrease in nausea and overall stress reduction. We are so honoured to check and adjust women during this monumental time in their lives.
