Aloe Vera for a Strong Immune System

Aloe Vera contains many things that can help to improve your health. Essential enzymes in Aloe Vera break down proteins that are converted into amino acids, which are used as fuel for cells in the body. Bradykinase in Aloe Vera stimulates the immune system and helps to kill infections. You will also find good levels of zinc in Aloe Vera, which is an essential micronutrient that helps regulate hormones and maintain immunity. While it is not a cure, Aloe Vera can reduce the occurrence of viral symptoms and complications and potentially slow the spread of infection.

Help for Mask Anxiety

Face mask conversations seem to go one of two ways — a debate about why people should wear one or a debate about why they won’t wear one. But there is another stance that we might not be taking into consideration. For some people, the thought of wearing a mask can cause a great deal of stress or even panic. This is known as mask anxiety. Mask anxiety is a very real thing for people who have anxiety disorders, who suffer from trauma, or sensory processing. Simply wearing a mask is not as straightforward for everyone. If you could benefit from a mask-anxiety coaching session, please connect with me.

Stress Handling With Biofeedback

Everyday we have an estimated 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts running through our minds. Considering that our minds can only handle 7-10 bits of information at a time, no wonder we start to feel overwhelmed, especially at this time of the year. Unmanaged stress contributes to many health issues such as lowered immunity, headaches, exhaustion, insomnia, chronic pain, and depression, to name a few. Alternative approaches such as Biofeedback testing and treatment are very effective in handling stress. It detects imbalances, or weaknesses, in the stress handling areas of the body, and in turn, stimulates the affected areas to help the mind and body process and handle stress better.

Using our Gifts to Better the World

‘Tis the season to give and receive, yet this holiday season will be like no other. Many are tired, overwhelmed, exhausted and anxious for this to end, while navigating a pandemic with many restrictions, limitations and emerging needs. How can we best use our own gifts and talents to serve and nurture our relationship with self, others, material things and our changing world instead of filling up with more “stuff”? We are being called to diligently examine and discern what is most important and in need of deep repair, healing, and loving while bringing in more ease, kindness, compassion and light moving forward into 2021.

Smart in Everything but Reading

When you have a bright child who doesn’t achieve to his or her potential we often affectionately call them underachievers, because we know they are capable of achieving so much more. Over the years, I have found that bright underachievers often have vision problems which make reading difficult. It may surprise you to learn that many of the children who have vision problems interfering with learning actually have 20/20 eyesight (with or without glasses). A Developmental Vision Evaluation is needed to determine if a vision problem is interfering with reading.

Exercise for SAD

SAD stands for Seasonal Affective Disorder, which is mainly attributed to the reduction in sunlight hours in winter and is your body’s reaction to the changes in season. With SAD you might feel sluggish or moody, have a loss of appetite, and even lose interest in activities you normally love. One way to combat these feelings and the wintertime blues is to get your body moving! Exercise, even light exercise, has been shown to improve mood and energy through increased blood flow and the release of certain endorphins, as well as improve sleep and alertness, and reduce anxiety and stress.

4 Actions for Mental Wellbeing

There are some surprisingly simple things we can do each day to improve our mental wellbeing. Some great examples include: 1) Practice gratitude: Make a list of everything you are grateful for, and tell those closest to you how much you appreciate them. 2) Be organized: Tidiness and organization can help you feel in control of your life and your wellbeing. Why not start by making your bed each day? 3) Get active. Physical activity can help improve your mood and focus. 4) Strive for mindfulness. Immerse yourself in each moment and let go of past and/or future concerns.

Keep Your Home Healthy & Warm

With the frigid temperatures here to stay for a while, homeowners in Steinbach and surrounding areas need a well-functioning furnace to create a cozy home. Unfortunately, older furnaces can stir up other problems. Consider installing an upgraded heating system. With a new system, you’ll be able to lower monthly energy bills, enjoy more consistent heating and know your furnace is operating safely and reliably. Advances in technology have increased furnace efficiency and it now takes less fuel to produce the same amount of heat. Newer systems are also compatible with smart thermostats, which can automatically regulate the temperature in your home—helping to save money each month.
