A round of funding is advancing plans to explore passenger rail between Victoria West and Langford. The federal government has announced $500,000 for the Island Corridor Foundation to undertake feasibility and technical studies. The Capital Regional District is contributing $523,100, and the province previously committed $300,000 in 2023 for technical planning. Together, these contributions total $1.323 million. The study will examine the potential for passenger rail on this corridor. It does not mean service has been approved, but it represents another step in assessing the possibility.
