A diagnosis of cerebral palsy can result in many different challenges. However, music therapy can help! Although other types of therapy may seem difficult, music is so naturally fun and motivational that it can help improve various developmental skills. For example, reaching for or playing an instrument can improve flexibility and dexterity, improving gross and fine motor skills! Music can also ease muscle tension, and decrease stress. The rhythmic nature of music can help with gait, and singing can help them learn how to control their vocal muscles. This can improve communication abilities and increase self-esteem.
