Yoga Alliance of Red Deer (YARD)

Did you know that YARD is the oldest studio in Red Deer? Or that it’s a non-profit organization? The studio first began as More Yoga, which opened in 2000. When it was about to close two years later, the instructors and students decided that they couldn’t let that happen, so they rallied and formed the Yoga Alliance of Red Deer.

That dedication, which the students and instructors showed back in 2002, is the heart and soul of YARD. While our studio has changed and evolved over the years, that heart is still there, and we invite new and continuing students to experience it for themselves.

I Am Festival: A Registered Not For Profit.

The I Am Festival is a personal discovery festival of the mind, body, and soul.

A discovery festival of the mind, body, and soul may come across as a little intimating – right? Here comes the real magic of this little festival – the vibe is a no pressure, be yourself, super-chill, we are so glad you are here atmosphere!

What will you discover at the I Am Festival? Well, I feel YODA answered this best when he said: “that which you seek, inside you will find.

At the I Am Festival, we don’t pretend to know what you seek or prescribe what or how you should find it. Inside this festival, we recognize that we all have different needs, questions and different learning modalities and preferences. So we offer activities in each central facet of life and invite you to go on your journey. With workshops, presentations, and demonstrations delivered from experts in the body (such as yoga, nutrition, wellness), the mind (such as neuro-linguistic programming, meditation, mindfulness, positive psychology) and soul (music, dance, art, creative expressions, and spirituality), there is something for everyone.  See the full schedule here.

The purpose statement of the I Am Festival is to: Create Transformational Experiences

“Transformational Experiences” defined as a moment or collection of moments impacting you so much, that they become a catalyst for changing how you live, think and exist in the world.

So when we plan the I Am experience, we do it with explicit detail in creating a space of authentic welcoming and radical acceptance. We believe that these are essential elements in creating the optimal atmosphere of discovery. The integration of nature is also an explicit element of the magic. The dancing prairie grasslands, wise winding walking trails, and tender poplar trees are the perfect companions.

It is our greatest honor to provide a space, a program and a community for moments of transformation to happen for you.

GRAND – Developmental Vision Institute

Welcome to GRAND Developmental Vision Institute

Developmental vision problems are visual abnormalities that interfere with the ability to function in our high-tech, continuing education society.  Our visual system can undergo tremendous stress these days as students and adults constantly use their near vision at school and at their jobs.  The visual demand required to perform prolonged near-vision tasks can often be overwhelming.  When the visual system has not developed efficiently or can’t cope with the visual stress, visual disorders can occur.  Developmental vision disorders can negatively affect:

    • Eye Movement Control
    • Focusing Ability
    • Binocular Stability
    • Depth Perception
    • Visual-Motor Integration Skills
    • Visual Perception Skills
    • Visual Memory

Most people don’t realize there is more to our vision than just our eyes.  Once the image we are looking at arrives at the back of our eyes, it has to travel throughout our brain in order for the images to be understood.  Therefore we actually have a system which provides us with good vision.

Vision therapy is much like “physical therapy”, but rather than treating the muscles of the body, it works on the eyes and visual system.   It is an invaluable tool that has changed not only our patients’ vision, but has improved many related areas of their lives as well.

Signs & Symptoms of a Vision Problem

Unfortunately, many people do not recognize that they have a vision problem. Most certainly, children rarely report they are having visual difficulties. There are physical clues that point to possible vision problems, but surprisingly, many of the symptoms that would indicate a person is having vision problems seem entirely unrelated to vision. Yet, these symptoms are manifesting as a direct result of a vision problem.

Loofind Washroom Search and Rating App

LooFind is a user populated, mobile application used to locate, rate, share information and recommend washroom facilities worldwide. It’s easy and it’s fun. Welcome to LooFind and thanks for choosing to participate in improving the standard of washroom facilities everywhere.

Our main goal is to raise the general standard of facilities everywhere through your ratings. Hopefully establishments with poor ratings will be given an incentive to improve while those with good ratings will benefit from increased attention.

Our other goal is to assist those users for who urgency and discomfort may be a way of life.  From experience, urgency often requires knowing where facilities are available and, almost as important, the conditions of those facilities. We think it is important to know where facilities are and their condition, giving one the opportunity to choose; select one that is closer but in possibly poorer condition or one that is further but in better condition. One could also use the app to determine in advance where one might “go” anywhere in the world.

Loofind is available for free from Google Store.  Just search for Loofind… download,  install, then “find your place to go”!
