Q: How bad is it if you rub your eyes?A: Ay, there’s the rub. Eye-rubbing is a bit of an instinct since it can help dislodge foreign matter out of an irritated eye, or stimulate the glands that are necessary to lubricate the eyes. Ideally, you shouldn’t rub your eyes hard enough to injure them – the surface of the eye can be rather delicate. And to be on the safe side, use lubricating eyedrops instead of solely relying on rubbing. If you’re worried about this, ask your eye doctor to help figure out the cause of your discomfort. There are numerous reasons why you might feel the need to rub your eyes. Visit us at Mosaic for your questions about how your eyes are feeling!
