Q: Is there any real difference between cataracts and glaucoma?
A: Yes, certainly. In layman’s terms, a cataract is clouding of the internal lens of the eye to the point where it affects vision adversely. Glaucoma is a deterioration of the large nerve that connects the eye to the brain. These problems have a variety of different causes, and they can affect vision in different ways and are treated differently. If you’re concerned about these issues, feel free to ask about them at your next routine eye examination; these are common eye problems not to be dismissed easily. We gladly answer questions like this at Mosaic Optometry!
