Aloe Vera’s weight loss properties are becoming better known. This plant stands above the rest of nature’s products as a detoxifying agent that helps the body remove waste. This is largely due to one of its components called ‘aloin’, which taken in appropriate doses can help us achieve its beneficial cleansing properties. The Aloe plant also helps us burn fat by improving our metabolism and the production of fatty acids, which is undoubtedly a big help in the fight to rid our bodies of excess fat. Aloe promotes intestinal function and better allows us to eliminate toxins from the body.
Heal with Guasha
Guasha is an ancient healing technique used in traditional Chinese medicine. In the treatment, special oil is put on a particular area of the skin, and the therapist starts “scraping” the area repeatedly with a “scraper” (a specially designed instrument of jade or horn). Patients hardly feel pain, neither during nor after the treatment. This process can improve local microcirculation instead of causing tissue damage. In most cases the patient feels an immediate improvement in their condition particularly in their pain or sense of constraint.
Grass-Fed vs. Grass-Finished Beef
Grass-finished beef comes from cattle that has eaten nothing but grass and forage for their entire lives. Grass-fed, on the other hand, may be used to label meat from cattle that were started on a grass diet, but have received supplemental grain feed or are finished on a fully grain-based diet. Grass-finished beef is an excellent source of protein, iron, zinc, phosphorus, and selenium, as well as vitamins B6, B9, and B12. What’s more, research shows grass-finished meat is higher in cancer-fighting conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), desirable fatty acids like omega 3s, and nutrients like vitamin D, magnesium, and potassium.
Fall Raking Tips
Colourful fall leaves are beautiful, but cleaning them up can be a chore! These tips may help reduce injury while raking. Wear proper shoes with good grip to prevent slipping, as well as well-fitting gloves to avoid having to grip the rake too hard. Use proper yard tools and keep from over-reaching to help prevent strain on your back. Switching sides with the rake allows you to share the work between sides. Make sure to bend with your knees when picking up the leaves and bags. Breaks are also helpful, so take a rest when you need it. Happy raking!
Moving Through Fear
Anything new and big that requires major change in our lives often comes with some fear attached. Starting a new relationship or ending one that is no longer working, having a baby, changing careers, navigating an illness or death or taking a leap into an unknown path all bring up deep fear. There are two kinds of fear; the one that paralyzes us and keeps us stuck and the one that awakens us and guides us into our new selves. We often need to grieve our losses, creating space for what’s to come by taking small, manageable steps. Embracing life’s uncertainty instead of controlling it. Fear accompanies anything worth doing and reminds us we are on the edge of our comfort zone as we muster the courage, vision and action to walk the bridge between new and old.
Are You Fatigued?
You may need vitamin B! Lack of vitamin B in your regimen may impact your physical health in different ways. Hundreds of bodily biochemical reactions are supported by B-vitamins, and deficiency in vitamin B can lead to fatigue and lethargy. A B-complex vitamin is a mixture of eight essential B-vitamins that are critical to metabolism at the cellular level. Isotonix Activated B-complex helps to maintain healthy levels of serotonin, increase energy and decrease stress. It also delivers metabolically active forms of several vitamins and minerals in isotonic form, ensuring that your body receives and uses vital nutrients quickly and efficiently.
Small Town Feel
When Assiniboine Pharmacy opened over 4 years ago, the aim was to bring the small town feel to the big city. The premise was and still is simple – make sure people they serve feel at home. For owners Ryan Buffie and Kris Petersen, both pharmacists who met at the University of Manitoba in the late 1990s, the idea of big, corporate pharmacies void of vital relationships and the subsequent trust it forms between pharmacist and patient, wasn’t where they wanted to be. Assiniboine Pharmacy offers a wide range of services, from free prescription delivery, a VIP program and multiple ways to refill prescriptions, including online and even via an online app.
Redox Signalling Molecules
“All disease begins with damaged cells.” Dr Gary Samuelson. PhD. Redox Signalling Molecules are native to our bodies. As we age production of these molecules slows down, resulting in aging skin, fatigue, disease, weight gain to name a few consequences. Increasing proper Redox Signalling Molecules in your body is the most important thing you can do for your health. Your body is the most complex communication network on earth. These molecules communicate with each other to repair or eradicate damaged cells for optimal healthy living. Isn’t it time for you to live your best life?
Pet Health
Healthy Guts in Pets. When pets are young, it is important that the gut barrier be strengthened. Young animals are born with leaky or open guts. This allows absorption of immune system proteins from their mothers’ milk that will protect them from disease. Young pets always need deworming, and sometimes prescriptions, to kill off parasites. The gut remains slightly open to protein absorption throughout life, and so veterinarians use an animal’s excrement to judge and manage reactivities to different foods. Healthy excrement is usually firm, unless the animal is dehydrated. Always consult your veterinarian for the best strengthening programs and medications for your young pets.

The Connection Between Your Eyes and Your Ears
As we age, we’re more susceptible to hearing loss and vision changes. Both conditions can creep up on us, making preventive measures essential to sustaining the quality of life we’re used to. According to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), you’re at greater risk of social isolation and reduced community participation if you have a vision loss. The same goes for hearing loss. Having both a vision and hearing problem can affect your ability to lip-read, which is detrimental to communicating with co-workers, family, and friends. A decreased ability to socialize is linked to a greater risk of dementia. However, Statistics Canada reports that 90 percent of people with hearing loss can improve communication with a properly fit hearing aid, counseling, or environmental changes.
