What you eat is important to prevent or manage chronic health conditions. Dietitians look at the big picture and focus on chronic disease management and prevention of heart disease, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, cancer, and other chronic health conditions. They provide a healthy long-term sustainable nutritional plan based on your specific nutritional goals and concerns, not a strict diet. By making dietary recommendations that are practical and easy to follow, dietitians encourage a balanced approach to eating, with an emphasis on moderation and variety, whole foods, and simple recipes that are easy for you to prepare for yourself at home.
IV Conscious Sedation
IV sedation can be used for general anesthesia as well as for conscious sedation. This type of sedation brings about an altered state of consciousness, known as a “twilight” state. This mode of sedation reduces pain and discomfort with the use of pain relievers and sedatives. Patients who undergo treatments using conscious sedation generally are able to speak to verbal cues while the procedure is underway, conveying any discomfort being felt to the dentist. Once the procedure ends, a small period of amnesia could negate any recollection of the treatment. The sedative will wear off completely within 24 hours, so that you can resume day-to-day activities. Senior Active in Winter
Physical activity is a fundamental component of maintaining good health. Unfortunately, cold weather can be a difficult time for elderly people to stay physically active as everybody wants to stay in and hibernate. Remember that the benefit of engaging in some form of exercise during the short, dreary days of winter is crucial for maintaining mental well-being and physical health. Check out your community recreation centre for classes such as gentle yoga or leisure swimming. Depression is one of the side effects of cloudy days so, don’t let cold days stop you from going out and being active.

Do I Have Tinnitus
Described as ear or head noises, tinnitus can take the form of ringing, buzzing, hissing, or similar sounds, and it can be constant or intermittent. In some cases, tinnitus can result from medical conditions such as wax buildup or ear infection, which can be treated, often resulting in total relief of symptoms. In many cases, tinnitus is the first sign of hearing loss. The first step in managing any type of tinnitus is to undergo a complete hearing assessment by a hearing professional. If hearing loss is found and medical intervention is not the answer, your hearing health professional will go over additional treatment solutions with you, such as tinnitus maskers or hearing aids.
Daily Routine Important for Seniors
People are afraid of the unknown. If an older adult is losing control
over their physical abilities, independence, or cognitive abilities,
their world gets filled with more and more unknowns. Establishing
routine is extremely important for seniors. A daily routine offers a
level of stability that individuals often enjoy, as it allows them to
settle into a schedule they understand. Doing the same basic
activities like eating, dressing, and bathing at the same time every
day is known to improve sleep quality. A predictable routine also
helps to reduce stress and anxiety.
Cleaning Your Velour Blanket
Is there anything more comforting than cuddling up in your favourite warm blanket on a cold winter’s night? If you have a cozy velour blanket and it’s been a while since it’s been washed, here are a few tips to keep it soft and fresh. It’s best to wash a velour blanket on its own to prevent any matting, pilling, or shedding. Wash in cold water, use a gentle cycle, and be sure to use a minimal amount of detergent to prevent the fabric from feeling too stiff. Shake out before drying in a dryer using a no heat setting.
