Your Feet and You

Feet. To some, the word brings up images of trails and mountains, kids running in playgrounds and walking beside a lake. For others, it just brings up feelings of pain and annoyance. Taking proper care of our feet early on in life can help us live a longer and more productive life. Join us on April 16 to learn how you can care for your feet.

Smelly Feet?

Does the person sitting next to you have bromodosis? Smelly feet is a very common medical condition from buildup of sweat resulting in bacteria growth on the skin. Your feet have more sweat glands than any other part of your body with naturally occurring bacteria to help break down sweat. Bad odor forms when bacteria and sweat are allowed to build up. Some simple tips to prevent bromodosis includes using a scrub brush to wash your feet at least once a day, keeping toenails short and alternating between two pairs of shoes. Look for well-fitting socks made with antimicrobial fibers to keep your feet sweet smelling all day.

The Effect of Stress on Children

Canadian families today face more stress than ever before. According to the Psychology Foundation of Canada, stress among children is estimated to have increased by 45% over the past 30 years. Too much stress can make it hard for children to get along with others. It interferes with the child’s ability to focus, think and ultimately learn and effects their physical, emotional and mental health. Building emotional health and resiliency can help children concentrate, learn, interact more successfully and deal with other stressors they may face in their lives. Learning to handle stress is an important life skill for everyone.
