When it comes to true health and wellness, the biggest mistake we make is to think of ourselves and our health in parts. Most of us view our body as being separate from our mind and emotions. Thinking this way can prevent healing, because something that happens to one part of you has an effect on all of you. Emotions generated by personal experiences create chemicals that have a physical effect in your body. Normal bodily functions and reactions to stress produce chemicals that can create emotions. You can’t get away from this connection. Pursuing health from this perspective is the best way to restore balance after it has been lost.
Nourishing the Brain
Demonized for decades, fat is now recognised as one solution for many brain related disorders such as depression and Alzheimer’s. Our brains require Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) but unlike cholesterol that is produced in our liver and intestines, our bodies do not produce EFA. We have to get them from the food we eat. These essential fatty acids known as Omega 3 and 6’s help build brains structures as well as the Nerves and Neurotransmitters required for optimal health. Good sources of omega 3’s include sardines, salmon, nuts, seeds, avocados, olive oils and free range eggs.

Benefits of a Medical Pedicure
The feet are one of the most neglected parts of the body. Any problems occurring in the feet affects everyday performance and quality of life. A medical pedicure is not just a simple trimming or buffing of the nails. It starts with a special foot soak to soften the nails and callouses for easy removal. A full foot gait analysis, bone structure, nail and skin assessment determine any problem areas. Your qualified foot care practitioner can provide advice and tools necessary to prevent potential injury or infection. A quality “medi-pedi” takes up to an hour and includes treatment records and a client consultation.
Keep your Eyes Healthy
Here are some tips to keep your eyes safe and healthy. Wear eye protection when playing sports. Maintain a healthy weight; being overweight or obese increases your risk of developing diabetes and other systemic conditions which can impact the eyes. Eat right to protect your sight; a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, particularly dark leafy ones is important for keeping your eyes healthy. Be cool and wear your shades, preferable ones that block out 99 to 100 percent of UV-A and UV-B radiation. Make an appointment with your eye care professional for a comprehensive dilated eye exam to ensure that your eyes are healthy.
