The Bathroom Scale is Not Your Friend

At this time of year, many people jump on the bathroom scale and are horrified by the number that they see, so they start a healthy eating and exercise plan. After a few weeks, the number on the scale may not change much but that doesn’t mean that healthy habits are not working. The bathroom scale is not a good indicator of health. As a coach, indicators that I prefer include looser clothing, more energy and a happier disposition. A comprehensive analysis using Dexa technology can help you better understand that your efforts are not going to waste. Please book your scan today!

Prioritize Social Interactions

The winter months can restrict our social interactions and activities if we allow them to happen. It is time to prioritize social interactions and become more active. Being social and active is associated with many health benefits; Activities help our physical and mental health while socializing promotes good mental and emotional health. Walking is a perfect activity that can be done outside when conditions permit or indoors in a mall or on a treadmill. Once we start, we tend to do more healthful things, so get out and have a walk with a friend, socialize and engage – you’ll feel better for it!

Super Bowl

In 2022, several internet sources reported that Super Bowl LVI was THE largest sport betting sporting event in North America, including an increased percentage of prop bets ( x > 60%-70%). The Lombardi Line talk show reported a record handle at $179M+ (Las Vegas odds makers). The days of simply predicting a win/loss, quarter points, or basic point spread are far behind us. Micro-betting, early cash outs, prop bets and other in-game betting features have heightened the gambling experience, mirroring slot machines in its neuro-chemical impact on the brain. How much betting will this year’s Super Bowl draw in?

Ask The Expert

Q: I just discovered that I’m diabetic and to my pleasant surprise it seems like my eyesight has improved a lot, even though my blood sugar is still out of control with my treatment. But isn’t this great? A: An unpredictable change in focus sometimes happens with your condition and it’s not necessarily good – sorry to rain on the parade! This is just one of many ways that diabetes can affect your eyes and you’ll definitely need to have periodic professional assessments.

Common Kids’ Dental Problems

Your dentist can help diagnose and treat common dental problems in kids, including: Tooth Decay – can lead to sensitivity, pain, and gum issues. Keep track of when and how well your child brushes. Gingivitis – is a precursor to gum disease. Speak to your dentist if your child’s gums bleed when brushing and flossing. Thumb Sucking – if long-term, can cause an open bite and problems with eating and talking. Broken/Chipped Teeth – ensure your child wears a mouth guard when playing sports and seek treatment for broken/chipped teeth. Orthodontic Issues – your dentist may refer you to an orthodontist for these issues.

Sustainable Investing

Clients are increasingly seeking investment solutions that align with their values and priorities – now and for future generations. However, they also want to ensure they don’t sacrifice financial returns with these investments. Sustainable investing is an investment approach that combines material environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors with traditional financial analysis and active ownership. This approach reduces investment risk while enhancing long-term outcomes for both clients and the world around us.
