There are many reasons why moving into a retirement residence can be a positive change. With plenty of healthy lifestyle options such as fitness room, community gardens, theatre rooms, nail & hair salon, and an in-house culinary team, retirement residences can help maintain not just physical health, but also mental and emotional health, since there are plenty of opportunities for socializing within the community. Large one-bedroom and two-bedroom private suites often allow some familiar home furnishings for additional comfort and customization. Residents have their independence and privacy but can also access support and transportation when needed. All our properties have adapted and are safely living together and supporting one another’s health and good spirits.

What’s In Your Products?
Did you know that parabens (methyl, butyl, ethyl, propyl), found in many personal care products, can disrupt the endocrine system affecting hormones in the body? This can harm fertility and reproductive organs, affecting birth outcomes, and increasing the risk of cancer. These chemicals are even found in baby products. 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bodies. Skincare ingredients are not regulated, and almost any ingredient can be incorporated into a formula. The synthetic fragrances alone can be created with up to 3000 different chemicals. Essential oils, on the other hand, are beneficial to the body and can boost mood, improve sleep, reduce inflammation, reduce stress, along with many other benefits.
Phones for Hearing Impaired
There is nothing sweeter than the sound of a loved one’s voice even if it is only on the telephone. Unfortunately for someone with hearing loss, using the telephone can be a frustrating experience. Suffering from hearing loss not only affects your hearing in live conversations, it makes using the telephone a real challenge. Because of today’s inclusive technology, phones and other useful hearing aid accessories for communication for people hard of hearing are now available. Hearing aid phones are a great gift that will help your loved one live life normally despite the hearing loss.

Housekeeping Services
Saskatoon Services for Seniors offers housekeeping services for all seniors in Saskatoon. Our staff is screened and fully insured. We are here to assist with many household cleaning services such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry, dusting and wall washing. We only provide the services that you require and as such only have a one hour minimum for each appointment. We can provide regular weekly service, bi-weekly services or just when you need us. The fee involved is based on the seniors income and if cost is a barrier, though our donors we can usually overcome this barrier to be able to get seniors the help they need.

Coping with Loss
When your loved ones reach a certain age, deaths and funerals become common place; scanning the obituaries becomes a morning habit. Dealing with these losses can take a toll. Funerals play an important part in honouring and remembering the life of someone who was important to you. The living can come together, support each other and share their grief. If your loved one has recently attended a funeral, talking about what they liked or did not like about it, may lead to not only discovering what their wishes are for their funeral, but can help them cope with the loss they have just experienced.
Downsizing? Time to Declutter!
Decluttering is the first step to successful Downsizing. Decluttering has many advantages. It relieves stress through organization, makes room for those things you really need and use, prepares your house for sale and reduces family tension while settling an estate. One of the most important considerations is the fact that 80% of the time we only use 20% of our stuff. This helps us define the first things to consider passing on to family members or donating. Meet your Seniors Real Estate Specialist, SRES®, Sheri Willick – REALTOR® and Associate Broker with Coldwell Banker Signature in Saskatoon for more information on downsizing.
