No Need to Fear Going to the Dentist

Dental phobia has become ingrained into our society with phrases like ‘pulling teeth’ being used to mean difficult and unpleasant. As a result, an important part of the dentist’s role has become putting the patient at ease, making them secure and comfortable. Those with dental phobia tend to avoid dentists. Putting off regular checkups is a good way to end up with gum disease or other problems. If you are a person who suffers from dental anxiety, ask about oral sedation and nitrous oxide. Your dentist will work with you to find a way to alleviate the stress.

Talking About Hearing Loss

Onset hearing loss is usually gradual, so it can take a long time for people with hearing impairment to realize there is a problem. While starting a conversation with a loved one experiencing hearing loss may be difficult, it’s a key step towards a solution. Strategies for having productive conversations include: *Aim to have serious discussions early in the day, before navigating daily activities. *Ask helpful questions to create an open dialogue and make everyday communication easier. For examples: “Should we have this conversation in a quieter location?” *Focus on facts and specific symptoms and encourage them to get a professional evaluation.

“I Love Pasta!”

I love making pasta salad with tons of veggies, light vinaigrette dressing and playing with different local and fresh herbs.Pasta is a great complex carbohydrate, with fiber, tons of nutrients from the veggies and herbs. It tastes amazing with fresh vegetables from our local farmers’ markets. Pair the pasta salad with your choice of lean protein. Chickpeas are my personal favorite. By adding a source of protein to your pasta salad, you have a great, well-rounded meal.
