I feel as if my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor’s permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my pants on, the class was over.

Brain Tumor Awareness Month

The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada’s mission is to reach every person in Canada who is affected by a brain tumour through support, education, information, and research. Every day, 27 Canadians are diagnosed with a brain tumour. We work to serve the needs of both malignant and non-malignant brain tumours. Research funded by Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada has helped improve the accuracy of radiation treatments, shorten treatment regimen times, limit side effects from chemo, and improve quality of life for patients after surgery. We are the sole funder of the Brain Tumour Tissue Bank, providing free samples to clinical researchers around the world to further the search for a cure.

Better At Home Services

Better at Home supports seniors by meeting their non-medical needs. By providing assistance with these simple, day-to-day tasks, Better at Home assures seniors continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their communities. Better at Home services are offered province wide with the help of Healthy Aging by United Way. Services vary from community to community but may include the following: Friendly Visiting. Transportation. Light Yard Work. Minor Home Repairs. Light Housekeeping. Grocery Shopping. Due to Covid, some services are temporarily being offered virtually. Meal Program

Kent Street Activity Centre and Seniors Come Share Society linked to prepare seniors nutritious and fully cooked frozen meals delivered to your doorstep in South Surrey and White Rock. Orders are taken on Thursdays from 9am-4pm and the cost varies from $6 to $8 per meal. To inquire or to order please call Denisa at 604-531-9400 ext. 207.

Zoom Bingo

Every month Seniors Come Share Society offers free Zoom Bingo which allows seniors to interact with others in the community and has many other benefits such as exercising hand-eye coordination, increasing mental flexibility and alertness and most importantly, laughter! With most programs and activities being offered virtually, we at Seniors Come Share Society figured that seniors could use some support navigating through technology, hence why we offer our tech buddies program.
