Cancer Hair Loss

When facing a life threatening illness like cancer, hair loss should seem like the least of someone’s worry. However, that is often not the case. For many patients it is one of the most frightening aspects of their cancer journey. The fact that their hair is quickly disappearing could trigger deeper emotions than simply the loss of their hair. It can cause cancer patients to feel exposed and vulnerable. Something that they are privately struggling with is now put on display for all others to see. When they stare at themselves in the mirror they may feel as though they are looking at a stranger. The important point to remember during this season of life is that there are many ways to regain control of their appearance. Help your loved ones seek out these options. Your emotional support for a cancer patient is always important.

Positive Change

You probably have things in your life that you would like to change. It is easy to approach this desire to change from a position of negativity and hostility. We say to ourselves, “I’m going to kick this weight problem if it’s the last thing I do” or “I refuse to be stuck in this lousy job forever.” What we don’t realize is that negativity steals our energy. Running away from something rather than moving toward something leaves us drained and depletes our motivation. That’s why it’s often easier to lose weight once you start to see physical results. Our minds shift from thoughts like “I don’t want to be heavy” to “I want more of this getting thin stuff”. Make a list of things you would like to be different in your life and try to phrase your goals in a positive way. See how much more empowering it is to focus on what you do want rather than what you don’t want.

Did you know?

Canadian health data shows that 3000 Seniors die each year due to problems related to their medications, 88% of which are preventable. 18% of seniors who are admitted to the Emergency Room are because of problems with medications and seniors who take more than 4 medications are at risk of falling. It makes perfect sense to have your medications looked over by an expert who is trained to identify and address medication issues, eliminate unnecessary one’s, find safer alternatives, advocate for you at your doctor and simplify your medication list that will make you thrive! “When it comes to medications, less is more”, states Mathilda, Senior Care Practitioner.

A caregiver recently commented: “Thank you for giving me back my mom who I almost lost to overmedication.”
Another claimed: “You have saved my life!”

BearFoot Bliss

A mindful meditative walk with nature gives you a deeper connection to the land and to her healing soul. Meditation teaches you how to focus on your breath, your six senses, and to look deep into nature.  Our connection to the land relates to our connection to our higher power, how we treat the earth, how we treat other people in society and especially how we treat ourselves.

BearFoot Bliss is imbued with earthing (grounding), Shinrin Yoku (forest bathing) with a much more profound emphasis with nature.  Each time you begin BearFoot Bliss you will set your intention and affirmation for the day. A meditative walk with nature increases white blood cells, stimulating the immune system to fight off disease. Studies have shown that spending 2 hours every day in nature reduces stress hormones up to 800%.

Registration begins March 27th

Living with RSI

Repetitive Strain Injury…if you sit for a living, or repeat many of the same tasks on a daily basis, you are at risk of a ‘repetitive strain injury’. Your biomechanics at work, home and recreation can greatly influence the risk of sustaining an injury. These types of injuries can become ‘chronic’ very easily without proper treatment, education and habitual change. These injuries can effect many aspects of your life as they may limit your physical and mental endurance.

We are fortunate in Downtown Winnipeg that many companies have taken the steps to help reduce these injuries; allowing flexible hours, adapting workstations, maintaining health spending accounts and supporting those with such injury. Health and Safety initiatives are always good value; as everyone can learn to use better postures, and even pass this information on to your children before bad habits occur.

What if there is nothing “wrong” with you?

Life can easily convince us we are fundamentally flawed and we will never be able to live up to the cookie cutter views of perfection … that is if we are not careful. With a little spiritual nudge in the right direction, you can cultivate your spirit’s longing to truly fulfill a sense of wholeness in the world.

Receiving a Reiki energy healing treatment is an amazing way to strengthen the physical body while also allowing a deep inner spirit uncovering thus reminding us we are whole and good. Pamela Vialoux at her new company Shabequay Healing, has mastered the art of spiritual guidance, wisdom, and intuitive reiki that will change your life.
