Need a Creativity Boost?
The benefits of floatation therapy are numerous and far-reaching. Perhaps the most universally appealing is floating’s tendency to enhance creativity, learning, and memory. From students to artists to working professionals, most of us would love to experience a boost in our ability to think, learn, and solve problems. Floating can do just that. Study after study has shown that time spent in a float cabin enhances our cognitive powers. Since all external sources of distraction are removed, floating provides an extreme form of rest, and this appears to amplify the positive effects of letting our mind take over.

What You Don’t Hear
When someone has moderate hearing loss they will hear relatively well if you are talking to them face to face in a quiet environment. They will not hear well if you are walking away from them, in a different room, or if noise is present. People with hearing loss may be unaware of the extent of it: that’s where loved ones come in. Family members who have grown frustrated with them not being able to hear are the ones to prompt them to get a hearing test. Encourage them to have their hearing tested, you will be doing them and yourself a big favour in the long run.
Workplace Mental Health
Organizations have become increasingly concerned about mental health issues in the workplace as the economic and social costs of the problem grow. Addressing employees’ mental health and the stigma that accompanies it often falls to supervisors since they are key in influencing the social climate at work. The level of expertise will depend on the their own’ experiences of managing mental health issues. Therefore, it is so important for supervisors to receive solid training in these areas. More research and training in privacy, disclosure processes, and self-care in the workplace need to be done.
Countering Effects of Sitting
The average person spends at least 9 hours a day sitting. It’s hard to deny that the advance of technology has made us a very sedentary society. Sitting has been coined “the new smoking” and almost everyone who sits in front of a computer at work is dealing with postural stress. Regular massage can counteract the imbalance caused from too much sitting, which can show up as pain and tightness in the neck, shoulders, and lower back. Massage therapy is the skillful manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, combining kneading, pressure, and percussion of the muscles to restore balance and posture
Forget New Year’s Resolutions
Creating the life you desire and implementing the changes you would like to have, all starts with gratitude. Rather than judging where you have decided you’re not perfect, what if you just took a moment to say ‘Thank You’ to YOU! Acknowledge what you have chosen, be grateful for what you have created so far, and for all the amazing things and people you have in your life.
The things we put our attention on grow bigger. When you focus on the things that contribute to your life, and acknowledge the brilliance of you, more of what you are grateful for starts to show up.
Soup up Your Gut
Our intestines are responsible for the breakdown and absorption of nutrients from the food and liquids we consume. In order to accomplish this, the gut lining must be semi-permeable. Sometimes this lining is more porous than it should be – a condition called leaky gut – which allows undigested food to enter the bloodstream. This causes inflammation, a potential root cause of most illness and disease including mental illness. One effective way to repair the gut lining (and warm up on a cold winter day) is to drink mineral and nutrient rich bone broth made from organic beef, chicken, or fish bones.
Suffering from Plantar Fasciitis?
When tiny tears occur in the thick, fibrous band of tissue reaching from your heel to your toes (called “fascia”), inflammation and pain are the result. This is plantar fasciitis and left untreated, can produce heel spurs. A number of things can contribute to plantar fasciitis. While men can get plantar fasciitis, it’s more common in women. You’re also more likely to suffer from this condition as you age, or if you’re overweight or on your feet for several hours a day. VoxxLife socks and insoles are proven to reduce pain and improve circulation, thereby encouraging healing.
