Workplace Mental Health

Organizations have become increasingly concerned about mental health issues in the workplace as the economic and social costs of the problem grow. Addressing employees’ mental health and the stigma that accompanies it often falls to supervisors since they are key in influencing the social climate at work. The level of expertise will depend on the their own’ experiences of managing mental health issues. Therefore, it is so important for supervisors to receive solid training in these areas. More research and training in privacy, disclosure processes, and self-care in the workplace need to be done.
