A new, state-of-the-art surgical robotic system soon to be deployed at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon will allow surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures. The new Da Vinci surgical system will be used in urology, head and neck cancer, thoracic surgery and gynecological oncology. It is anticipated that the first robot-assisted procedure will be performed in the fall of 2022. “Our government supports innovations that can improve patient care and outcomes,” Saskatoon Willowgrove MLA Ken Cheveldayoff said on behalf of Health Minister Paul Merriman. “This type of advanced robot-assisted surgery reduces complications and shortens hospital stays for patients compared to open surgery, creating more hospital capacity to perform more procedures. We value the contributions of donors, and we are grateful to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation and title donor Merlis Belsher for their commitment to this project”.

Which Wolf Are You Feeding?
There is an old wise tale about an inner fight that goes on between two wolves in the wild. One is harsh, angry, full of sorrow, regret and arrogance. Motivated by self-pity and filled with false pride, greed and ego. The other wolf is full of joy, lightness, nurturance, hope, love, humility, kindness, generosity, compassion and trust. That same wolf struggle resides in each one of us at different times in our lives and we are often hard on ourselves when fighting our demons. When asked which wolf wins the battle? The wise one responds: “it all depends, which one you decide to feed”.

Housekeeping Services
Saskatoon Services for Seniors offers housekeeping services for all seniors in Saskatoon. Our staff is screened and fully insured. We are here to assist with many household cleaning services such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry, dusting and wall washing. We only provide the services that you require and as such only have a one hour minimum for each appointment. We can provide regular weekly service, bi-weekly services or just when you need us. The fee involved is based on the seniors’ income and if cost is a barrier, though our donors we can usually overcome this barrier to be able to get seniors the help they need.
Volunteers Needed!
Here at Saskatoon Services for Seniors we strive to make a difference every day. We do this though helping Seniors remain safely in their own homes by helping provide services that they need. One of these key services especially in Spring is our Grocery Delivery and Yard work programs, we are currently looking for one or two volunteers to help with these programs. If you are interested in helping seniors in our community please contact our office today. Our grocery shoppers/delivery volunteers are needed for one to two days per week.
Yardwork Services
Services include lawn cutting, spring and fall cleanup of leaves, gardening, flower beds and weeding. As with all of our services we can provide as much or as little based on what your needs are. We can also do pruning, trimming and gardening as well. As always if cost is a barrier we will work with you to overcome that barrier. During spring and fall we can also do outside window cleaning and eaves cleaning as well.
