Providing Comfort Through Loss

When supporting someone through loss, remember these key points: Be present, as your mere presence offers comfort. Listen actively, allowing them to express their emotions freely. Acknowledge the diversity of grief and validate their feelings. Avoid minimizing their experience and instead, offer understanding. Prepare for potential anger, stemming from frustration. Provide hope for the future, reassuring them of healing. Lastly, understand that grief takes time; offer ongoing support without imposing timelines.

Overcoming Arthritis

With support, a person with arthritis may maintain daily activities and routines for a long time. Allowing even a small amount of regular, ongoing assistance can make a big difference for those living with osteo or rheumatoid arthritis. Some folks may need assistance with activities such as bathing; dressing; grooming; cleaning; cooking; traveling; or transportation. Others may welcome help to enjoy leisure activities or time with friends and family. Whether provided by family or through paid Care Professionals, some timely support will go a long way to improving quality of life for those with arthritis and other chronic conditions.

Good Posture Can Prevent Pain & Injuries

Having good posture makes you look strong and healthy and it’s also a critical factor in preventing pain and injuries. For recreational activities like golf, skating, yoga or running, posture actually plays an important role in performance. Posture is critical in preventing workplace injuries that come from repetitive stress or sitting at a desk in front of a computer all day. Physiotherapists can help you discover how to improve your posture by demonstrating positions and stretches for when you start to feel the tension in your body. Reducing Cognitive Decline

Hearing involves both your ears and the brain, so it’s no wonder that hearing loss can go hand in hand with thinking and memory problems. Studies are increasingly linking hearing loss to issues such as faster brain shrinkage, earlier onset of significant cognitive impairment, and up to a quintupled risk of dementia. However, addressing conditions such as hearing loss could help prevent a third of dementia cases worldwide, per a UK research collaborative. With hearing health and overall wellness so connected, seeking regular hearing checks and addressing listening difficulties early is important.
