As the weather gets cooler, the longing to get cozy and stay inside with loved ones increases. Having even one cigarette outside in the cold (and temperatures will keep dropping!) takes you away from this. Why not look for better ways to deal with stress and pain that allow you to stay inside and improve your health at the same time? Consider a cardio workout at the gym – this way you can blow off steam and pump healthy endorphins through your body. Then your loved ones will see you bettering yourself in ways that you may be proud they follow.

Dentures and Dry Mouth
Dry mouth is a condition that involves the salivary glands not producing enough saliva to adequately keep the mouth moistened. This lack of saliva can alter the fit and comfort of dentures, since saliva helps dentures retain their suction and stay in place and also has a lubricating effect that keeps dentures from rubbing on the gums and creating sores. Those who take certain medications, are older, and use tobacco and alcohol are more susceptible to dry mouth. If you’re experiencing dry mouth symptoms as a denture-wearer, contact your denturist to discuss your options.
Bioenergetics And Women’s Health
Every year at this time women are reminded to focus on their health, but in reality, women should be taking charge of their own physical and mental well-being every day. A good first step is to find out how well your body is functioning so you can target any areas that need assistance. One of the best ways to accomplish this is through Bioenergetics. This non-invasive computerized analysis determines underlying imbalances in organs and tissues that could contribute to unwanted health conditions. If an imbalance is found Bioenergetics can then help to stimulate the correction of the affected organ or tissues to help your body function at its best.
Volunteer Opportunities
We currently run our club with one staff member, in addition to our class instructors, so we are extremely grateful and reliant on our member volunteers to help us with running our programs. Interested in giving back? Whatever your skill or your age, we can find a place for you. To find out how you can help, call 204-416-1067 or email us at [email protected]. Remember we are a club of people that look out for each other, and volunteering is an important way to give back!
Try a New Sport This Fall
If you are looking for a great class that helps both the mind and the body, consider Tai Chi. It is an ancient form of Chinese martial arts putting emphasis on balance and subduing vigor with softness. Movements are slow, soft, continuous, even & circular. It improves the function of organs & helps to relieve joint pain. It is an active form of meditation that is suitable to all ages and abilities. Always great to improve your balance, a key factor as we move into our senior adventures. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports for seniors and our club is a great venue for anyone that wants to see what it is all about. You can come by for a visit, see the game firsthand and ask lots of questions. We are all about having fun, and don’t take our game to seriously. If interested, pickleball runs on Mondays and Thursdays, 12:30 – 2:45 PM. Just bring your gym shoes. Cost is $2/game.

Is Your Cat’s Litter Toxic?
Since your cat’s litterbox is something he or she comes into contact with on a regular basis, it’s important to consider how safe the litter you’re using actually is. Each type of litter has its pros and cons. Clay litter contains silica, which can cause lung problems. Clumping litter can cause intestinal issues and blockages if your cat ingests it. Wheat, corn, pine, paper, or walnut shells cat litter: mostly safe, but could contain pesticides. Try to do some research to find out which litter is safest for you and your feline friend!
