There are greater things to be achieved in every New Year, and each and everyone must prepare themselves to be great, not by words of the mouth, but by a lot of sacrifices. – Michael Bassey Johnson

Stress Handling With Biofeedback

Everyday we have an estimated 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts running through our minds. Considering that our minds can only handle 7-10 bits of information at a time, no wonder we start to feel overwhelmed, especially at this time of the year. Unmanaged stress contributes to many health issues such as lowered immunity, headaches, exhaustion, insomnia, chronic pain, and depression, to name a few. Alternative approaches such as Biofeedback testing and treatment are very effective in handling stress. It detects imbalances, or weaknesses, in the stress handling areas of the body, and in turn, stimulates the affected areas to help the mind and body process and handle stress better.

Importance of Sleep for Exercise

If you’re not getting enough sleep, it’s difficult for your body to perform at its best. When you’re tired, your muscles won’t operate at peak strength and you’ll find it harder to get motivated to work out. This not only means that it will be difficult to exercise at your top level, but you’ll also be more likely to suffer an injury. Adults should try to get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night if they want to perform at their best. However, if you are frequently doing intense workouts, you may need more. Listen to your body and, if you feel very tired, you’re likely sleep deprived.

Natural Product Review:

Stay healthy this winter with Natural Factors® Vitamin C and the preferred D3 form of vitamin D – SunVitamin D3. The newest research suggests that low levels of the “sunshine vitamin” may be part of the reason we get more colds and flu in winter. Increasing year-round vitamin D intake could be another natural way to ward off viral and bacterial infections. Vitamin C is best known for its antioxidant activity and immune function support. Natural Factors Vitamin C 500 mg combines the benefits of vitamin C with antioxidants, such as citrus bioflavonoids, rutin, rosehips, and hesperidin, for added botanical support.

Supporting Mental Health

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a noticeable impact on the mental health of Canadians, and the federal government has taken some good initial steps towards addressing this with an economic recovery plan and the free Wellness Together Canada portal. However, about 1.6 million Canadians were living with unmet mental health needs before the COVID-19 pandemic. The Canadian Mental Health Association is working to expand and adapt its virtual services and supports countrywide, and is also calling on the federal government to take further action to support Canadians’ mental health needs. Acupuncture for Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral Neuropathy is a neurological condition that can cause symptoms such as weakness, cramping, decreased tendon reflexes, numbness, pain, and a burning sensation, usually in the limbs. The peripheral nervous system is commonly affected in diabetic patients, which is known as diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Studies have found that acupuncture can help improve nerve conduction in those with DPN, as well as numbness, pain, rigidity and alterations in temperature perception. Studies also suggest that acupuncture may accelerate the nerve regenerative process in DPN patients, who normally may have delayed nerve regeneration that can cause pain and numbness.
