April is Oral Health Month

Oral health is important for everyone, including denture wearers. Gum disease, dental decay, and tooth loss are some of the main problems that denture wearers experience, so it is important to take good care of your gums, any remaining natural teeth, and to keep your partial or complete denture(s) clean and properly fitted! If gums, natural teeth, partials, and complete dentures are not cleaned properly, you are likely to experience a build-up of plaque, leading to bad breath, cavities, gum disease and further tooth loss. Denturists and dental hygienists play an integral role in the maintenance of your oral health. Be sure to book an appointment today.

Acupuncture for Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal disorder with symptoms such as fatigue, chronic and diffuse pain, cognitive impairment, and sleep difficulties. It can affect people of any age and gender, although adult women seem to be most affected. The complexity of the disorder can make it difficult to diagnose and treat. Acupuncture can be a good pain management option for fibromyalgia patients, as it stimulates natural pain-relieving mechanisms in the body and has little to no side effects. A 2018 trial suggested that acupuncture causes changes in the levels of two neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) that are key to fibromyalgia. Acupuncture appears to increase serotonin and decrease substance P, which can improve fibromyalgia symptoms.

Vibroacoustic Therapy

Dr. Lee Bartel’s TEDx talk at Collingwood, Ontario gives an excellent overview of the current state of vibroacoustic medical research. Dr. Bartel explains how scientifically developed sound played through Vibroacoustic devices helps reduces the symptoms of Fibromyalgia pain, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Depression, and increase blood flow. The Sound Oasis Vibroacoustic Therapy System plays back nature, music and sleep therapy sounds with Delta, Alpha or Theta brainwaves to coax your brain to match these frequencies, thus entering states of sleep, relaxation or renewal. Vibroacoustic Therapy provides massage therapy to muscles and joints that hand/mechanical massage can not reach.

The Four Horsemen of Life

What does it mean to live in the fullness of your masculine heart? Well. this month we dive into Jungian work as we explore four archetypes of the masculine. Based on the work by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette in their seminal book King, Warrior, Magician, Lover we explore what the mature masculine looks, feels and acts like. We do so because once we harness the energy that these four horsemen bring into our lives, we are then able to raise the level we show up as fathers, husbands, brothers and leaders. Join us on April 12th and 26th to learn where you are out of alignment with these powerful archetypes.

Avoid Injury This Spring

Spring means two things: yard work and stiff, sore muscles. Stretching to prepare muscles for strenuous activities that have not been done since fall is very important. Simple things like doing arm circles, shrugging your shoulders, and touching your toes should be done before and after activity. If you do overexert and your neck, shoulder, arm, or back pain is not going away within a week, there are natural alternatives that can help. Options such as designed nutritional formulations, Biofeedback, or NIR Therapy will reduce inflammation and stimulate muscle repair to help you recover quickly and get back to enjoying spring.

The Obstacle is The Way

How many times have we avoided doing something because someone or something placed an obstacle in our path? Likely more times than you want to admit. Here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter whether the obstacle is mental, physical, lacking a particular skill, or a limiting belief. None of these is true. How is it that a mountain can be moved with a belief the size of a mustard seed? That mountain IS the limiting belief we have about ourselves and the purpose of the obstacle. When we encounter obstacles we allow ourselves to discover what we are made of. To reveal and break free of self-sabotaging behaviours. This month we take on the obstacles in our lives as we develop tactics to overcome them.

Anger’s Purpose

Anger’s main purpose tells you your boundaries have been crossed! Something was said or happened that needs to shift, change or stop. Discovering the un-met need under the anger, helps you to feel more understood and allows the layers of grief, hurt, and loss to emerge. Once you discover your unmet need(s), you then have the power to do something about it. Sometimes that means withdrawing and pulling back, creating new boundaries, speaking your truth or expressing your desires and needs clearly. Finding a productive way to express and diffuse your anger by journaling, boxing, or dancing is essential. Holding onto anger is toxic on our bodies and creates havoc, ill-ness and a bitterness that pushes people away…so release and let go as a gift of kindness to yourself.
