Retirement Community Living

With all of the fears about Covid-19, people are struggling to make a decision about moving into a retirement community. It is reassuring to know about the extra cleaning, extra staff, adherence to wearing masks and social distancing rules. Yet it is the fear of the unknown that makes it hard to make a decision. What will happen when I move in? Can I leave? Can I see loved ones? May I have visitors? How are concerns handled? Reach out to the communities, ask your questions so that you can rest assured that you have all the facts to able to make an informed decision.

Tips on Healthy Eating!

Healthy eating habits are more than just the foods we eat. Be mindful of your eating habits; take the time to eat throughout the day and notice when you are hungry or full. Try setting regular break and lunch times without distractions during the day so you can focus on your nutrition. Make water your drink of choice. Try drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning and between and with each meal throughout the day. Filling up a water bottle before you start your day and keeping it nearby will help remind you. You may be surprised at how energized you feel when you are properly hydrated.

Health is a Precious Asset

The arrival of the new year brings new ideas, excitement and New Year’s resolutions. 2020 brought into focus the realization that health is our most precious asset. In the upcoming year, many of us choose to adopt healthy habits including revamping our diets and exercise. Reducing risk factors are another way to improve our health. We participate in risk reduction by wearing masks and physical distancing. For seniors, one of the biggest risk factors is not being able to quickly access help in an emergency. Whether fall or other emergency, quick access to help is directly correlated to improved outcomes.

Benefits of Fulvic Minerals

“When I started using Fulvic Minerals, my life changed overnight. I started sleeping, my body seemed to go into repair mode and I started to feel more like my old self”. When I receive testimonials like this, I am reminded that our body is supposed to have the essential nutrients required to bring us back to homeostasis. If our soil is depleted of these essential nutrients, that is when supplementation comes in. When considering starting to take any supplement, it’s important to know why you are taking it and if it interacts with anything else you are taking. I can help.

A Safe Environment

The primary focus during 2020 was to keep everyone safe. This was especially vital in a community of elderly residents with staff and essential visitors coming and going. The pandemic has made the use of masks, self-distancing and disinfecting our hands an ordinary part of our day. Coronavirus has also brought to our community a sense of slowing down. In our day-to-day interactions with each other, we now understand the importance of caring, having compassion, empathy and patience, treating everyone with kindness and having strength and creativity. In 2021, we will continue to offer a safe environment to our residents as they “age in place”.

I Would Love Voxx Socks for Christmas

Our father hated soft packages at Christmas time. We were not that fond of them either because they were usually socks. Socks are ranked number 2 on the list of things we DO NOT want to find under the tree. Today, anyone who works on their feet all day, the hiker and skier out in nature or the senior working hard to maintain their mobility would be thrilled to receive a pair of Voxx socks. Their benefits include enhanced pain relief and management, especially PDN pain, enhanced postural stability and balance, improved mobility and higher energy levels. Dad loved Voxx socks and wore them 24 hours per day.

Holidays After a Loved One has Passed

The first holiday season after losing a loved one can be a very difficult time. It is important to acknowledge that things are going to be different and the holidays will never be the same as they once were. But they needn’t be endured alone. Hold your memories of loved ones close and connect with other people during these cold winter days. There will be opportunities to make the holidays meaningful; be open to the change and accept it for what it is – a new opportunity to create stronger family bonds and traditions.

Online Gambling Support

When the weather grows cooler, rainier, and drearier, we tend to retreat into our homes and apartments. The coronavirus seems to be gaining ground as we have now been hit with the second wave of Covid-19. As Christmas, Hanukkah and other seasonal holidays grow closer, online gambling becomes an attractive companion for the internet-savvy. When people gamble out of boredom, loneliness, or the desire to make money, the risks of gambling beyond their financial or temporal boundaries increase. If you or someone you love is struggling, please go to https://bit.ly/3nxYiFV directly. A Gambling Outreach Support worker will contact you within 24 hours.

Holiday Greetings

Our community came together in 2020; we stayed home when asked and wore masks because we cared about each other. At 7 pm, we stood and banged pots along with our neighbours. We kept in touch through the computer screen and found ways to reach out to those shut-in. Supporting our local businesses became paramount. With no Expos in the near future, our new WellnessHUB connects our community with health and wellness resources. We are thankful that we were able to print this newsletter throughout 2020 and will continue to do so in 2021. We wish everyone Health, Hope and Love this Holiday Season.
