Progress over Perfection

When it comes to diet plans, missteps are seen as failures or “cheat days” are built-in. While some succeed, this mindset of “be perfect or you’re a failure” can lead to eating disorders, anxiety around food, obsession with healthy foods (orthorexia), and yo-yo dieting patterns. Focusing on progress towards a long-term goal is key. The occasional “missteps” are learning opportunities or simply an enjoyable treat. When progress is the focus, stumbling points along the path are not failures that mean that you have to stop and start again, just lessons.

Think Positive – Feel Good

Do you wake up some days and have a hard time getting out of bed? What are you telling yourself? Everything has energy; our bodies, thoughts, words and our emotions. What we put out into the universe is exactly what we get. If your first thought is “I don’t want to face my world”, then you will probably have a dense, stressful day. Raise your frequency through monitoring and changing your thoughts, words, and behaviours from dense and depressive to light, inspiring and positive. Cancel negative thoughts, avoid negative words and rethink to receive what you truly want and deserve. It’s a good day!

The Rites of Passage

Funeral rites are as old as the human race itself. Every culture and civilization has attended to the proper care of their dead. There are three common threads for death and the disposition of the dead: 1) Some form of ceremony, funeral rite or ritual, 2) A sacred place for the dead and 3) Memorials for the dead. Researchers have found burial grounds of Neanderthal man dating to 60,000 BC with animal antlers on the body and flower fragments next to the corpse indicating some form of ritual and gifts to the deceased. We are here to help.

Nurture Your Body’s Innate Ability to Heal

It is difficult to get our heads around our body’s innate ability to heal. We hear of ‘miraculous’ healings. Are they truly possible? Two branches of science, Epigenetics and Quantum Physics, say YES! Epigenetics has proven we are not victims to our genes. We can override our genetics via thoughts, beliefs and behaviours. Quantum physics has proven that everything is made from energy. Thoughts, words and emotions all have energy. If we harness the innate power we all possess, then anything is possible. The key is to shift from a stress response to a relaxation response, proclaim an intention and believe it is so.

Let’s talk about offside sports betting (March Madness), compulsive lottery ticket purchases, sneaking into the casino for a quick spin and accidentally overspending, late nights playing online poker, blackjack or slots. Or racking up a parent’s credit card purchasing loot boxes in video games, being at bingo six nights a week. How about Fantasy Pools? Skins betting on the golf course as well as online? Raffles? 50/50 draws, and home lottery raffles? How about the slough of commercials featuring online gambling sites, even more so during sports events? Triggered? Let’s talk about gambling. #PGAM.

Reluctant to Accept Help?

It can be difficult to accept help. Seniors often associate accepting help with losing their independence. It sometimes feels that by accepting help, we are telling the world that we are no longer able to live independently. Installing a medical alarm system can increase your independence and reduce the risks of living alone or being left alone in your home. In fact, with a locally monitored system, you may be able to remain in your own home, comforted by the fact that if something should happen, help is just a button push away.

Fitness, Food and Mindset

There are three key factors when it comes to our physical health; Fitness, Food and Mindset. Fitness or any activity that gets you moving is important but not in the way you might think. Focusing on muscle growth and cardiovascular performance is WAY more important than how many calories you burn. You can’t out-train a bad diet. Therefore, focus on whole foods, eat your veggies and good quality fats and proteins. Lastly, our mindset can be what unconsciously drives our behavior, so unless limiting beliefs are addressed, they can lead you back to old habits that won’t help you reach your goals.
