Reduce Alzheimer’s Risk with Exercise

Exercise has been shown to have protective effects against Alzheimer’s disease by supporting brain health and cognitive function. Regular physical activity promotes blood flow to the brain, stimulates the release of growth factors, and encourages neurogenesis—the formation of new brain cells. Exercise also reduces inflammation and oxidative stress, which are linked to Alzheimer’s progression. Studies suggest that both aerobic and strength exercises can improve memory, attention, and mental processing. Physical activity may also slow brain aging and reduce risk factors like obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, which are associated with Alzheimer’s. For optimal brain health, a consistent exercise routine is key.

Are Your Dentures Worn Out?

One thing that the Canadian Dental Care Program has brought to the fore is dentures that are worn out but still functioning without issue. The wearer has adapted to a situation that usually involves overclosure and a protrusive bite. In most cases, the dentures are over ten years old and affordability, not pain, has brought people into our office. The changes required are substantial, and it may take a month or two of constant wear to relearn how to use good dentures. Contact Accura Denture Clinic for all your denture needs.

Keeping Busy in the Winter

Winter can be chilly and uninviting. As the days grow short and cold, excursions become tricky in the ice and cold. If there is nothing to do, evenings become long. Take this time to explore new things; read a new author; and stretch your mind with a brain game; perhaps you prefer a puzzle; or you can learn an instrument! A home-care service can facilitate you or your loved one staying at home safely. They will get you to errands, help cook a lovely meal or just engage in some good old conversation; whatever is needed. We are happy to help.

Meet the Practitioner: Stephanie Brossard

Stephanie is a Certified Advanced Rolfer™. She graduated from the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute in 2015 and completed her advanced training in Germany in 2023. Stephanie is also a certified yoga instructor, which is a great combination for understanding how bodies move and function. Stephanie found Rolfing when she was searching for a solution to the issues she was having after a bunion surgery. She had tried everything she could think of, but nothing seemed to help. Three sessions of Rolfing fixed the problem for good and changed her life forever, as she decided that she wanted to be a Rolfer and help people too.
