Physiotherapy After Pelvic Surgery

Surgery for conditions of the pelvic organs (bladder, prostate, uterus etc.) often impact the muscles inside the pelvis; the pelvic floor muscles. It is important, both pre and post-op, to understand how these muscles work and learn how to train them. Training the pelvic floor is not a one size fits all exercise and everyone requires an individualised treatment plan according to the assessment findings and the surgery that is planned or performed. Improving the function of the pelvic floor helps improve the surgical outcome long term.
