Review Your Medications

Keep in mind it is not just age that can effect our vision, it is also the medications we take and our general health that may have an effect. Having an open and honest dialog with your doctor and health team can be a great personal benefit to you.

Having a list of your current medications handy for these conversations is a good organizational tool. Your doctor will have your information from your file, this is for you to have in your hot little hands and review with your health team.

Due to so many falls happening in the home, whenever possible, also have your AHS Green Sleeve visible for emergency responders to access. May you never need this tool, however, if ever you do fall in your home, having your health information all in one easily spotted green folder in a visible location will help emergency responders help you faster.

The Golden Circle has a select amount of Green Sleeves available and all Albertans can receive a Green Sleeve from any Alberta health care provider. So when you are booking your next doctor’s appointment and would like a Green Sleeve, mention this during booking and one can be provided to you.

As November is Falls Prevention month we will be sharing resources to promote awareness throughout our community. We invite you to check out our website – https://www.goldencircle.ca/outreach/falls-prevention/ and social media platforms to discover and share these resources and more.
