Your Gut: It’s a bug’s life!

Your body plays host to trillions of bacteria, the majority of which reside in your intestines. Although microscopic in size, these “bugs” play a large and mighty role in everything from digestion to immune system function, as well as gut brain communication and neurotransmitter production. Not all bacteria are beneficial – what we ingest has a big impact on the type and health of these tiny organisms. Consuming a wide variety of prebiotics and probiotics while avoiding processed sugar, excess alcohol, and smoking all works together to create an environment that supports a bug’s life and consequently optimal health and well-being.
