BROKERED WORKERS NEEDED

The Golden Circle has a Brokered Worker program through the Outreach Department which involves housekeeping, maintenance and yard care services to support and encourage clients regarding aging in place.

Our Outreach Coordinators receive requests from clients who may no longer be able to perform tasks around their home. An assessment is conducted along with a home visit and then the Outreach Team assigns the tasks to a screened service provider – which we are currently recruiting for.

Brokered Workers are needed for Red Deer and surrounding communities; some of the services provided are*:
• Light housekeeping
• Lawn and garden work
• Minor handyman repairs
• Snow shovelling
• Painting
• One time cleaning

*Brokered Workers are not able to perform any personal care or provide any medical assistance to clients.

Reimbursement is $20.00/hr with a two (2) hour minimum charge for housekeeping, with a one hour minimum for snow shoveling and clients pay the Brokered Worker directly!

We are recruiting for all positions but as we head into the winter season we are looking to recruit more Brokered Workers for snow shovelling especially in Red Deer and surrounding communities.

What is Holistic Dentistry?

In holistic dentistry, the mouth is viewed as an integral part of the digestive tract, which is crucial to overall health. A holistic dentistry practitioner takes time to educate patients on key nutrients for systemic and emotional health, the importance of restful oxygenated sleep and proper digestion, and the dangers of infected teeth and gum inflammation. Specialized technology is used in holistic dentistry, such as PRF, ozone, lasers and CBCT imaging, to properly diagnose and manage disease. In addition, only biocompatible materials are used, as opposed to ‘tolerable’ ones such as BPA-free composites, zirconia, and no amalgam silver fillings.

Fighting the Flu

When you have the flu or are not feeling well, the best thing for you to do is make yourself cozy and to rest comfortably at home while you recover. Drink plenty of fluids, get lots of rest, use a humidifier and make sure you have flu season health essentials on hand, including: Acetaminophen for fever, headache and minor aches and pains. Decongestants to relieve congestion and clear nasal passages. Sprays or lozenges to soothe a sore throat. Speak with your pharmacist about flu shots, prevention, appropriate symptom relief and other ways to stay healthy this flu season.

Benefits of Companionship

Whether it is a close friendship or an intimate relationship, social interaction is needed to prevent health decline in seniors. Loneliness is a risk factor for functional decline in adults over the age of 60. Something as simple as a friendship can enhance aging hearts and strengthen the immune system. Companionship can decrease the physical risk of disease by lowering blood pressure, heart rate, and cholesterol. The psychological benefits include increased self-esteem, decreased stress, and a sense of belonging. Older adults can also benefit from having a pet. Dogs, in particular, can open seniors up to new activities and interests.

Need a B12 Shot?

Cobalamin, or vitamin B12, is a water-soluble vitamin that we normally get through the animal-based foods in our diets. A vegetarian diet, surgery, medication, age and even chronic stress may contribute to deficiency. You may want to investigate your B12 level if you have migraines, tingling or numbness in hands or feet, osteoporosis, seasonal allergies, anxiety, hypothyroidism, neurological disorders and mixed anemias. Our holistic pharmacist can order bloodwork and complete an assessment for you. To note, most injections (including methyl-B12) are fully covered when provided by a pharmacist. Call our friendly team today to book your assessment and get started!

Did You Know?

For every person experiencing a substance abuse problem, on average, at least six others are affected – partners, spouses, children, parents, friends, employers, and co-workers. Although family members, friends, employers and co-workers are often in the best position to intervene, on average, significant others do not seek direct help for their loved ones substance abuse or addiction problem for at least nine years. Those affected by a significant other’s substance abuse, may themselves experience significant physical, emotional, social and spiritual stressors. Some commonly experience anxiety, depression, and feelings of hopelessness when trying to deal with their loved one.
