Connecting Hearing Aids to Your Smartphone

Today’s hearing aids are more sophisticated than ever! One of the greatest advances in hearing aid technology is the ability to pair them to a variety of smartphones. The new functions and abilities of these hearing aids aim to make your life easier and more convenient by giving you unprecedented, personalized control over your hearing experience. This Bluetooth technology lets you send the audio from your phone, tablet, or laptop directly to your hearing aids. Some other benefits of this feature include the ability to stream phone calls, music or driving direction; and even finding your lost hearing aids.

Wellness for Fathers’ Day

Does the man in your life have a closet full of Father’s Day ties? This year, show him that you care about his wellness and give him socks – VoxxLife socks. They have wearable technology that works with the brain to reduce pain, increase strength and endurance and enhance stability and balance. Knee high socks with mild compression are great when standing for a long time or excess sitting. For the active walkers or runners, chose moisture wicking socks to keep the feet cool in summer. Socks are available for contactless pick-up or delivery in Central Vancouver Island, by mail or order directly from the website.

Aronia Berries are Powerful Antioxidants

Today more than ever, a healthy immune system is important. According to Healthline, Aronia berries may strengthen the immune system and even counteract some infections. Aronia –grown in BC – contains powerful antioxidants that remove harmful free oxygen radicals from cells. In the spectrum of nutrition, berries rank near the top, and among berries, none are more nutritious than the Aronia berry. Research shows that in diabetics, Aronia berry juice, when taken regularly, reduced blood glucose. Aronia extracts have also reduced inflammation and improved immunity. And in hard-to-treat cancers, combining Aronia with chemotherapy improved the effectiveness of conventional drugs.

Information and Energy are Key to Health

Have you ever considered that in a state of total wellness, the body’s cells and organs always know what to do, and do it perfectly? The latest science is revealing the mechanisms that allow the body’s optimal functioning, and also what can cause it to lose resilience and efficacy, and to even malfunction. All of the science, along with NES’s extensive research and testing, has demonstrated that the root cause of malfunction – as well as the source of optimal functioning – exists beneath the physiology of the body. We must look to the physics underlying our biochemistry.

Enjoy your precious time together.

Providing care for a loved one takes its toll on family members as they attempt to juggle additional responsibilities on top of already busy lives. Balancing children, work, and care needs often leaves family caregivers exhausted and overwhelmed. Enlisting trusted, trained assistance for tasks like grocery shopping, support for appointments or simple outings will provide much-needed margins so children can enjoy the precious time they have together with their loved ones. Independently owned, Care & Company equips team members with excellent training and ongoing support, so your loved ones receive the level of care and companionship they deserve.

The Nervous System

What is the first system to develop? What is the only system completely protected by bone? What is the only system connected to every other system, organ, gland, tissue and cell in your body? If you have not guessed it by now, it is your Nervous System. The Nervous System is made up of your brain, spinal cord and all your nerves that branch of the cord. It essentially directs and coordinates everything in your body. Information goes down to the body and information flows back up to the brain. It is of the utmost importance that this communication is free and clear of any interference for your Nervous System to do its job effectively. Remember this, nature needs no help, just no interference.

AJ Pedal Wheelchair

Whether your mobility has been impacted by Parkinson’s, MS, a stroke, or knee or hip trouble, the AJ Pedal Wheelchair is designed to get you moving again. Like a bike, it’s powered by you – so you can reconnect with your body, rebuild muscle tone and improve your cardiovascular system. Designed to maneuver in tight spaces like narrow halls and doorways, the AJ rides easily into elevators, buildings and shopping centres. More robust than a wheelchair, the AJ allows you to pedal through parks, along sidewalks and even ride public transit. One-handed, dual hydraulic brakes allow you to stop quickly with just a gentle squeeze of the brake handle. The comfort-ride shock and pneumatic tires keep you comfortable and confidently in control. Each AJ is hand built in Victoria, BC, using the highest grade aluminum and other durable materials for a safe and sturdy ride.

Meal Program

Due to the pandemic, we redesigned our Meal Program and now offer online workshops and programs that encourage healthy eating, improving food security and food accessibility, as well as fostering connections among older adults. Seniors and their family members can join us from the comfort of their home via zoom for live concerts, nutrition programs, virtual cooking classes, and gardening workshops provided in collaboration with A Rocha Canada. All participants in our virtual cooking programs receive a free meal kit with an easy to follow recipe card and fresh ingredients delivered bi-weekly to their door by our volunteers. We also deliver nutritious frozen meals to those in need. Our Frozen Meal Delivery Program, in partnership with Kent Street Activity Centre in White Rock, has been enthusiastically received by seniors who are unable or prefer not to shop and cook for themselves. Meal deliveries would not be possible without our dedicated and hardworking volunteers who give countless kilometers and hours of their time to make sure seniors receive nutritious food. We could not do it without them! To inquire or to order please call Denisa at 604-531-9400 ext. 207.
