Are your Hormones Out of Balance?

Hormones affect many areas of your health, including your mood, your metabolism, and your sexual and reproductive function. Anyone who has been through puberty knows that hormones have a powerful effect on one’s body. Unbalanced hormones can make you feel like a stranger in your own skin. Compounded hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a way to restore balance and help you feel like yourself again. With your healthcare provider’s prescription, your compounding pharmacist can help start and maintain a hormone replacement regimen that brings your hormones back into balance and closely mimics what your body has been doing naturally for years.

Maintaining Oral Health

Here are some tips from Dental Hygiene Canada to improve your dental health: * Brush your teeth two times per day with fluoridated toothpaste, * Use an antibacterial mouthwash daily to rinse germs down the drain, * Floss Daily to remove food particles that get caught in your teeth, * You are what you eat! Eat a balanced diet and avoid in-between meal snacks, * Rethink your drink. Drinking sweetened beverages increases you risk of getting cavities. * See your dentist regularly. Your oral health is important. When you take care of your oral health, you take care of your overall health

Mindfulness Exercises

With our days already busy with work and our loved ones, the pandemic causes many of us extra stress and anxiousness. To combat anxiety or burnout, engage in the practice of mindfulness to improve your mental wellbeing. Mindfulness is the practice of taking time to stop, think and focus on the present moment. This means being aware of your state of mind and thoughts, what feelings or sensations you are experiencing, the environment, and your breathing. Allowing yourself the time to be in the present helps you to calm down, frees your body of tension, and relieves your mind of distressing thoughts.

Celebrating Memories on Mother’s Day

Whether the loss of your mother was recent or long ago, you can honour her life in creative ways from the safety of your home. *Make a statement – Plant her favourite flower in remembrance, *Social Media – Make a Facebook page dedicated to your mom and invite family to post photos and stories. Ask your funeral home or cemetery about free online memorials, *Pay it forward – Volunteer or make a donation to her favourite charity. *Remember her favourites – Honour and remember her by doing something she loved, *Celebrate together – Host a video call where everyone can exchange stories and share her favourite memory.

Customized Hearing Aid Service

Once hearing loss has been identified and the hearing aids have been prescribed and ordered, they usually arrive in 5-7 days. They are then fitted and programmed to your individual needs. A two-week follow up is scheduled for any necessary adjustments or questions regarding use, care and maintenance. A two month follow up is recommended to ensure continued success with the hearing aids. Finally, yearly checkups are scheduled to ensure that everything is working well. All services are complementary with the purchase of your hearing aid. If your hearing loss has changed over time, your devices can be reprogrammed.

Your Cool New Booze-Free Option

Taking a night off from drinking can now be a part of an exciting night out! Self-care can extend past sunset and socializing can boost your health and wellness game. When we consume beverages that are healthier for our body and mind, we feel more empowered and connected to our souls. We call this mindful consumption. Our Brü is soulfully curated for both flavour and functionality, creating a novel social experience. It’s time we remove outdated, stigmatized labels like alcoholic, recovery, disease and replace them with empowering words like alcohol-free, sober curious, and non-drinker, so people can feel proud about their accomplishment by choosing not to drink.

Want the Best Skin of Your Life?

The normal skin growth cycle is 28 days for a middle–aged adult and can slow down to 60 days or longer in our 50’s and 60’s. As the process slows, dead cells accumulate on the surface of the skin, causing the skin to look dull and thick. Bacteria can become trapped causing blemishes and breakouts. As we grow older, vellus hair or “peach fuzz’ also become more troublesome. Increasing your skin cycle with a regular skincare routine and medical facials will ensure that the outer surface of skin is made of newer skin cells, leading to a softer and more luminous looking skin.

Simple Ways to Prevent Cancer

1 out of 3 women will develop cancer in their lifetime. One of the most important factors which can help prevent cancer is to lead a healthy lifestyle, one way to do that is to maintain a healthy body weight. Eat a balanced diet that is high in whole grains, fruit and vegetables and low in processed meat and salt. Strength training and cardio exercise help maintain a healthy body weight as well strengthen our immune system. We should aim for at least 30 minutes of activity 3 times a week. Make the right choices today to help prevent cancer tomorrow!

New Challenges Bring New Opportunities

The pandemic has highlighted needs that will become even more urgent in the coming months and years. To support our community now and in the future, SOS must move beyond just addressing immediate needs. We have to rebuild our capacity. Our Thrift Shop has historically provided us with the majority of the funds needed to run our programs and services, but COVID-19 has changed that. To reach more and do more for the residents of District 69, we have launched SOS Project Rebuild with a goal of raising $1 Million over the next 12 months. Visit www.projectrebuild.com to learn more and support our community’s needs.
