Look after the Caregiver

When you are the caregiver of a loved one, it’s important to also take care of yourself. Here are some signs that you may be suffering from burn out: *Withdrawal from family and friends *Changes in sleep patterns *Feelings of irritability, helplessness and resentment *Decline in your own health. Things you can do to support yourself include talking to a trusted friend or co-worker; finding a support group and being realistic about your loved one’s state of health. Recognize that the time may come when your loved one will need specialized long term care and know that it is available in your community.

Is Hearing Loss Linked to Other Conditions?

Hearing loss is connected to many other health conditions in the body. While hearing loss may not be the cause of these diseases or conditions, it is considered a risk factor for many. *Tinnitus refers to the sensation of perceiving sounds that have no external source—in other words, hearing sounds that are not there. *Meniere’s disease is a chronic inner ear disorder that causes recurring episodes of severe dizziness (vertigo), ear pressure, tinnitus and hearing loss. It typically affects only one ear, although some people experience symptoms in both ears. *Treating hearing loss aggressively can help ward off cognitive decline and dementia.

3D-Master-Healing Testimonial

“My 3D-Master Healing was a meditation led by Detlef Friede and Eike Jordan. There was nothing “spooky” about this “light state of trance” process, I simply followed their coaching. Detlef asked me to find places in my life where there were negative impacts and emotions. These were then eliminated by the same process. While this was happening, Eike worked on physical imbalances. After the session, there was a big shift in energy and it felt like something was missing; all the negative feelings that have been with me all my life were gone. I felt calm and peaceful!”

Tranportation Options

We are through the coldest months of the year, but spring rains bring their own set of challenges, especially on the road. Slick roads and poor visibility plague drivers everywhere. Fortunately, if you are feeling less than confident behind the wheel, there are many alternate options. Public transit, carpooling and our own transportation services can get you to your doctor’s appointments, your weekly swim classes or even help as you run errands. A home care service can provide facilitated transport to help you get out and about with ease and peace of mind.

Different Types of Hearing Loss

There are three types of hearing loss: Conductive, Sensorineural, and Mixed. Conductive hearing loss is a reduced conduction of sound from the outer ear to the bones of the middle ear. Common causes include outer ear infections, excessive wax buildup and damage from foreign bodies such as cotton swabs. Sensorineural hearing loss is damage to the inner ear or nerve pathways from the inner ear to the auditory centers. Middle ear infections, a perforated ear drum and Otosclerosis are common causes of sensorineural hearing loss. The best way to diagnose your hearing loss is to work with a hearing care professional.
